Deal | Capcom action RPG with 96% rating drops to lowest-ever price

Capcom's Monster Hunter Rise arrived on Nintendo Switch in March 2021 and later spread to PC, PlayStation and Xbox. It very much takes after its predecessor, Monster Hunter: World, as an action RPG in which players take on quests to track and defeat monsters, gathering materials to craft improved weapons and armor. Rise also introduces Palamutes, canine companions that can be ridden across environments and participate in combat, while Wirebugs provide additional mobility and new combat options.

Another difference to World is the level design, which resembles a medieval Japanese/Far Eastern aesthetic. This was well received by critics, with OpenCritic giving an aggregate score of 96%. Reviews also highlight its expanded gameplay mechanics, namely movement- and combat styles, established by Monster Hunter: World. Community discussion on Reddit similarly points to the game's combat, Wirebug movement and large amount of content as recurring positives, although some players expressed different opinions about particular gameplay elements.

Monster Hunter Rise is currently available digitally for Nintendo Switch for $4.99, an 85% discount from $39.99, representing a new lowest-ever price on the Switch store. The deal is scheduled to run until October 16, 2026. The separate Monster Hunter Rise + Sunbreak package is also discounted to $5.99.
