Combat is relatively simple: In melee, players use regular and charged attacks and can also block enemy attacks. There is also a ranged weapon, various special abilities and so-called Dragon Screams. Leveling up awards new skill points that can be used to improve health, damage, critical hits and resistances, among other things.

Steam players particularly praise The RPG for its silly humor, numerous Skyrim references, straightforward RPG systems and rewarding progression. The small world, with its hidden areas, secrets and side quests, has also been well received. Criticism, on the other hand, focuses on the relatively short playtime of around five to ten hours, repetitive combat and quests as well as occasionally shallow role-playing systems.
