A new Casio G-Shock GMW-B5000 is reportedly in development. It is slated to arrive with a urethane band and other features not previously used in the series.

Casio’s older full-metal G-Shock designs appear to have some life left in them after all. The watchmaker is supposedly preparing a new addition to the long-running GMW-B5000 series despite having already introduced the newer GMW-BZ5000 recently. Great G-Shock World claims to have corroborated the information through multiple sources, although it does not identify them publicly.

To recall, Casio launched the original GMW-B5000 in 2018 as a full-metal interpretation of the first-generation DW-5000C from 1984. The series went on to become one of the company’s more important premium G-Shock lines. Details about the newly spotted GMW-B5000 variant remain scarce for now. There is no confirmed retail model number, colourway, price or launch date yet.

However, Great G-Shock World gives us a rough idea about what the upcoming timepiece could have in store. It is expected to use a urethane bracelet rather than metal. The publication also claims it will introduce other features not heretofore seen in the series, although it does not elaborate as to what the said features will be.
