Casio launches two new compact, lightweight digital watches in the US

Following the Japan launch in August, Casio has officially launched the Baby-G BG-169GD series watches in the US. The Japanese watchmaker has introduced two models under the BG-169GD series, namely the BG-169GD-1 and the BG-169GD-7. The former comes with an all-black finish, while the latter ships with an off-white shade with a soft pink-tinted display.
Appearance-wise, the new Baby-G watches bring back the bold rock and grunge style of the 1990s and early 2000s. Casio offers a compact round case for the BG-169 series paired with a resin band. At just 43 grams (1.51 ounces), the watch is quite lightweight.
Dimensionally, both models are identical, measuring 45.9 x 42.6 and 16.4 mm (1.81 x 1.68 x 0.65 inches). They run on a CR1616 battery, which is said to offer three years of battery life. Practical features include world time across 29 zones, a 1/100 second stopwatch, a countdown timer, 5 alarms, a full auto-calendar (to the year 2099), and an LED backlight with afterglow. There is a mineral glass on top of the dial, which provides basic scratch resistance.
Furthermore, both watches have an average accuracy of ±30 seconds per month. Plus, they feature 200 m (20 bar) water resistance, meaning they can be suitable for light water sports activities. As for price, the BG-169GD-1 and the BG-169GD-7 are priced at $99 each. Buyers can now purchase both Baby-G watches directly from Casio’s official website.
