Garmin delivers new update to multiple smartwatches with fresh improvements

Garmin has released a new update to half a dozen of its recent mid-range smartwatches. Specifically, the company has introduced Beta 18.29 or Beta Version 18.29 to the Forerunner 70, Forerunner 170, Forerunner 570, Forerunner 970, Venu X1 and Vivoactive 6.

For context, Beta 18.29 replaces Beta 18.27, which Garmin delivered at the end of August. As we discussed at the time, that update contained over half a dozen changes and improvements. By contrast, Beta Version and Beta 18.29 bring far fewer changes to the table. 

As far as we can tell, all six smartwatches have received a fix for an issue that prevented alarm quiet starts from working properly. Additionally, Garmin asserts that it has included multiple fixes for other 'minor issues'. However, it has not elaborated further in this regard.

Moreover, voice alerts should no longer sound in silent mode on the Forerunner 570, Forerunner 970, Venu X1 and Forerunner 170 Music (curr. $349 on Amazon). Please note that this change is not available on the Forerunner 70, Vivoactive 6 or the Forerunner 170 without Wi-Fi connectivity. Similarly, Garmin has not released an equivalent update for the Venu 4 yet, which remains on Beta 18.27.
