The Huawei Watch 6 and the Huawei Watch 6 Pro have just been officially unveiled. With an improved X-Tap sensor, an OLED display with a brightness of up to 3,500 nits, and a case available in either ceramic or titanium, the top-of-the-line model offers high-end specs.

Along with the Huawei Watch GT 7 and Watch D3, the manufacturer also unveiled the successor to the Huawei Watch 5 today. While the Huawei Watch 6 is more expensive and doesn’t offer as long a battery life as the Huawei Watch GT 7, it does feature a more powerful processor and a wider selection of apps via the Huawei AppGallery.

While the more affordable Huawei Watch 6 is available in either aluminum or stainless steel, the Huawei Watch 6 Pro features a more durable case made of titanium or ceramic. In both cases, the round LTPO OLED display is protected from scratches by sapphire glass. The display reaches a brightness of 3,000 nits on the base model, while the top-of-the-line model reaches 3,500 nits. The smaller versions, with a case diameter of 42 or 43 millimeters, offer a battery life of three days with typical use, or one week in power-saving mode.

The 46-millimeter versions offer a battery life of 4.5 to 11 days. In addition to a heart rate and SpO2 sensor, Huawei has also included an ECG. The X-Tap sensor on the right side of the case collects 14 health metrics when a finger is placed on it. The sensor now uses twelve channels, instead of just four on the Huawei Watch 5, and is therefore said to be twice as sensitive. Huawei offers over 100 sport modes. Exclusive to the Pro model is an Expedition app that displays a map and allows users to mark waypoints.

Pricing and availability

The Huawei Watch 6 (Pro) is expected to launch on September 23, at least in the UK and in Europe. In the UK, the base model costs £399.99 ($540), while the Huawei Watch 6 Pro starts at £599.99 ($810).
