Multiple Garmin smartwatches get new stable updates

Garmin has released a couple of stable updates for three of its golf watches. System versions 9.08 and 9.15 recently arrived for the Approach J1, the Approach S44, and the Approach S50 wearables which had not received new software for several months.

According to the change log for Garmin software version 9.08, posted on the brand’s online forum, the update brings two bug fixes to users. The first addresses an issue linked to connected Approach CT1 golf club tracking tags (curr. $99.99 at Amazon US). Before this update, these golfing smartwatches could reportedly crash when displaying the club scan prompt. The second tackles a problem where the wearables could freeze at the start of a golf round, specifically when the selected course does not have tee boxes.

The release notes for software version 9.15 for these Garmin golfing smartwatches state that an issue which could cause the wearable to crash when saving an activity has been resolved, and translations have been updated. Only for the Approach S44 and Approach S50 are bug fixes related to custom targets, the hazards and layups page and weather data. The complete change logs for these two updates can be found below.

Garmin system software version 9.15 is now available for all users of the Approach J1, Approach S44 and Approach S50 smartwatches. The wearables should automatically receive the update via the Garmin Connect app, though it can also be installed via the Garmin Golf app or the Garmin Express software.
