Round Homey Portal controls AC, speakers and smart lights
Anyone who controls a smart home via a Homey Hub such as the Homey Pro ($449 on Amazon) can expand the system with the new Homey Portal, a compact control center that can be set up on a stand or mounted on a wall.
The Homey Portal’s hardware is relatively simple – the device combines a round 2.8-inch touchscreen with a rotary control around the housing, and features a proximity sensor, a speaker, an ARM Cortex-A55 quad-core processor, and a USB-C port for power. When a room is assigned to the Homey Portal via the Homey app, the display automatically shows smart home devices in that room so you can control them. If desired, the home screen can also be personalized.
Using the touchscreen and the dial, you can adjust the color and brightness of smart lights, set the temperature of a heater or air conditioner, or control music playback and volume on a compatible speaker.
Homey also offers small apps for setting timers, displaying the smart home’s energy consumption, or checking the weather forecast. To use Homey Portal, the smart home must be controlled via Homey, either through a Homey Hub, the Homey Cloud, or a self-hosted Homey server.
Pricing and availability
The Homey Portal is now available for pre-order for $249 in the manufacturer’s online store, shipping is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026. The list price will later increase to $299.
