Garmin’s major update for the third quarter is here and is now being rolled out to over a dozen smartwatch models. It includes improved "OK Garmin" voice control and simplified workout recommendations designed to help users start their workouts faster.

Garmin recently began rolling out the major third-quarter 2026 update to a range of smartwatches. As usual, it may take several weeks for the update to become available for download to all users of compatible smartwatches. The update is available for the following smartwatches:

  • Garmin Fenix 8 | Fenix 8 Pro | Fenix E
  • Garmin Tactix 8
  • Garmin Quatix 8 | Quatix 8 Pro
  • Garmin D2 Mach 2 | D2 Mach 2 Pro
  • Garmin Enduro 3

  • Garmin Venu X1
  • Garmin Venu 4
  • Garmin Vivoactive 6
  • Garmin D2 Air X15

  • Garmin Forerunner 70 / 170 / 170 Music
  • Garmin Forerunner 570 / 970

Garmin’s table shows which of the new features are available on which smartwatches. Probably the most exciting new feature is the improved voice control, which can be activated with the voice command "OK Garmin" to, for example, start an activity. To access the voice assistant on the connected smartphone instead, you can use the voice command "Phone Assistant."

The Garmin Venu 4 ($495 on Amazon) features fall detection and can automatically call for help. A feature called "Quick Workout" creates a workout recommendation simply by specifying the desired duration and intensity. The update also introduces new Garmin Coach plans and an “XC Ski Indoor” workout, while a configured diving setup can now be shared with compatible dive computers via Garmin Share. With this update, Garmin Edge bike computers gain the ability to automatically detect and count laps.
