Casio's popular G-Shock Frogman watch reportedly returns next month with metal core band

The Casio Frogman GWF-D1000 has not had a new colorway since 2019. However, that may change next month.
Great G-Shock World reported on Saturday that a reference numbered GWF-D1000BC-1JF is coming; they cited a follower who regularly passes the site information. The blog describes a black-based treatment with a positive LCD, and pins the release as early as September.
Every GWF-D1000 since 2016 has shipped on a carbon fibre insert band; this one is said to use Casio's metal core band, which fuses metal into resin. The BC in the reference is also in line with that reading, since Casio uses the same suffix on the GW-M5610UBC, a metal core band model.
The leaked weight backs that info up as well. Great G-Shock World lists roughly 170 grams against the 141 grams Casio quotes for the standard GWF-D1000. That would amount to a 29 gram increase, which would make sense if Casio is swapping carbon fiber for metal.
You should take all this info with a grain of salt: the site labels its specification list as expected (and not confirmed), and the figures look to be carried over from the existing platform. Casio has announced nothing, and no price has surfaced.
Those aforementioned "carried-over" specifications describe a watch that was advanced when it arrived at Baselworld in 2016 and has not been updated since. Module 3445 features ISO-rated 200 m water resistance, a depth gauge reading to 80 m, a compass with automatic horizontal correction to 80 degrees, and a thermometer covering minus 10 to 60 degrees Celsius. Tough Solar takes care of power, Multi-Band 6 handles timekeeping, and the watch stores 20 dive logs with a rapid ascent alarm above 10 m per minute.
The case is DLC-coated stainless steel with a resin cover, under 2.8 mm sapphire, measuring 59.2 by 53.3 by 18 mm in the classic asymmetric Frogman shape. Whether Casio still sells the GWF-D1000 outside Japan is unclear. Recent listings show it has become more of a domestic model.
