Casio's new unannounced G-Shock GA-2100 collab shows up at event amid launch speculation
A white G-Shock that Casio has not announced spent Notting Hill Carnival on the wrist of Mikey Dread, co-founder of Channel One Sound System. Photographs of it were posted by leak/reporting account geesgshock. He calls it a reggae-influenced derivative of the GA-2100-7A7 and stopped just short of confirming a retail release.
The pictures show a fully white case, bezel and dial with a dark green element in the lower half of the face. The band features printed panels in yellow, green and red, red graphic blocks further down, and text too small to read at that resolution. Nothing in the frames gives us a reference number, and the caseback is never visible.
Carnival ran on 30 and 31 August this year, its 60th edition. Channel One has played it since 1982 and has been tied to G-Shock for several seasons, including the pre-Carnival session the two put on at Village Underground on 28 August.
For context, Casio UK sold a Channel One collaboration last August — the DW-6900CO-1, at £119, alongside a branded key clip in the box. That one was announced properly, listed on Casio's own site, and covered here. A Chrono24 seller currently has it for £366 for an unworn example, though that is a single asking price and not a market rate.
What did change is the platform. Last year's watch was a digital triple-eye; this one is somewhat large as well. The GA-2100-7A7 has a bigger base measuring 48.5 by 45.4 by 11.8 mm, weighing 51 g, built around a carbon core guard with bio-based resin outside, rated to 200 m and lit by twin LEDs. The module can run on roughly three years from a pair of SR726W cells.
Please note that while the track record of the leaker is quite good, Casio has said nothing. We have no official reference, price, and date yet.
