Deal | Casio's stainless-steel Edifice chronograph with sapphire now under $100 on Amazon after record-high discount

A sapphire crystal under $100 is pretty unusual, and Casio's Edifice EFB-730D-7AV has now dropped below that line on Amazon. The silver reverse-panda chronograph is listed at $98.97, down from $118.66 two days earlier.

Keepa mentions that this is the lowest the listing has ever gone. It also shows why the drop matters more than the number shows. The watch has averaged $118.25 over the past 90 days and $123.43 over 180; Keepa logs roughly one price drop every three months on this listing, so discounts here are somewhat rare.

Amazon's 40% badge is measured against a $165 list, and unlike most such claims this one has a decent amount of grounding. Keepa shows the listing was actually stable at $165 for long stretches between November and March before settling near $118 in the spring. Against that more recent price, though, the practical saving is closer to $19 — still not bad.

For that money, you get a 40 mm steel case, 47 mm lug to lug and 11 mm thick, weighing 136 g on a solid steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp. Sapphire protects a silver sunray dial with three black registers in Edifice's 3-6-9 layout; the date is wedged between four and five o'clock. Water resistance is 100 m behind a screw-down back, and module 5742 runs a one-second chronograph to 59 minutes 59 seconds with split and first-second place timing. Casio quotes three years from an SR920SW cell.

There a couple of caveats. Running seconds are in a subdial and not on the center hand, which reviewers have also found awkward. And Amazon says the item usually ships in six to nine days, quoting delivery around 18 September.
