Xiaomi releases new budget smartwatch with cheaper pricing and 1,200-nit AMOLED display
Last month, Xiaomi quietly released the Redmi Watch 6 Active in Poland. At the same time, we spotted the smartwatch going on sale in parts of Europe. Now, the device has received an official release across Oceania, Europe and Asia.
To recap, the Redmi Watch 6 Active serves as a cheaper alternative to the Redmi Watch 6 Lite (curr. $64.99 on Amazon). Nonetheless, the former boasts a 1.85-inch AMOLED display that resolves at 390 x 450 pixels with up to 1,200 nits peak brightness. Moreover, the smartwatch is said to last up to 18 days on its 470 mAh battery to match the Redmi Watch 6 Lite.
On top of that, the Redmi Watch 6 Active is IP68 certified against dust and water ingress. Also, the wearable offers all-day heart rate monitoring and comes pre-loaded with over 140 exercise modes. Furthermore, Xiaomi provides compatibility with all devices running Android 8.0, iOS 14.0 or newer.
The Redmi Watch 6 Active is available in the Eurozone for €42.99 (~$49), 14% less than rumoured pricing. At the time of writing, the smartwatch is available in Matte Silver, Midnight Black and Sunset Orange finishes. For reference, one will receive a complimentary Midnight Black variant when ordering the Poco F9 Ultra with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage until September 4.
Meanwhile, the Redmi Watch 6 Active costs AUD 79.50, CZK 999, KRW 54,800, JPY 5,580, MYR 9,999, RON 2,229, SEK 699, SGD 49.90 and TRY 2,199 in Australia, Czechia, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Romania, Sweden, Singapore and Turkey, respectively, before applying any launch discounts. While pricing and availability for other regions remain unknown for now, Xiaomi's global website confirms that a full global launch will eventually occur, too.
