Xiaomi 18 Fold hardware upgrades confirmed ahead of launch

Xiaomi recently announced its plans to launch the Xiaomi 18 Fold and Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max next week. The Xiaomi 18 Fold will mark a return to the large foldable market, and the company has begun sharing hardware details of the flagship device ahead of its debut.

For one, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Fold will sport a 6,000 mAh battery, along with 67 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging. The company's last big foldable, the Mix Fold 4, featured a 5,100 mAh battery in comparison, so this is a solid upgrade. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8 (buy on Amazon US, curr. $1,899) is the closest offering on the market as it stands and only offers a 4,800 mAh battery. 

As is already known, the Xiaomi 18 Fold will be powered by the company's in-house flagship chipset, Xring O3. Xring O3 has been tested in recent weeks and appears to consistently offer better performance than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while being more efficient. In addition, the Xiaomi 18 Fold will be the first smartphone to feature LPDDR6 memory. 

Camera-wise, the foldable has been confirmed to sport a 200 MP 1/1.56-inch main camera, a 50 MP 3.5x periscope zoom snapper, and a 50 MP ultra-wide angle camera, with Leica's Summilux lens used across all three rear cameras. Finally, Xiaomi has also claimed that the 18 Fold will offer 1.2-meter drop resistance, thanks to a new dragon-bone hinge, Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, and a 7-series aluminum alloy frame.
