Lenovo releases new desktop PC in the US with Intel Panther Lake and unusual design

Lenovo is now selling a new desktop PC in the US. Built around Intel's Panther Lake architecture, the ThinkCentre X AIO Aura Edition also contains a strange display aimed at maximising vertical multitasking.

Over a month has passed since Lenovo first released the ThinkCentre X AIO Aura Edition. While the recent Yoga AIO 27IPH11 and Yoga AIO i Aura Edition are conventional desktops like the Apple iMac (curr. $1,994 on Amazon), the ThinkCentre X AIO Aura Edition adopts a different approach.

Specifically, the desktop contains a display that is taller than it is long. Measuring 27.6-inches diagonally, the IPS panel outputs at 2,560 x 2,880 pixels in a 16:18 aspect ratio. Also covering 98% of the DCI-P3 colour space, this unusual display peaks at 300 nits with a 60 Hz refresh rate and 14 ms response times.

As the video above shows, this design provides the display with superior vertical multitasking capabilities compared to regular 16:9, 16:10 or even 3:2 displays. Previously, the ThinkCentre X AIO Aura Edition was available in Oceania, Europe and Asia. Now, it has reached North America as Lenovo completes its global release.

Currently, Lenovo is restricting the ThinkCentre X AIO Aura Edition to a single SKU in North America for $2,289 and CAD 3,179. For the time being, the desktop comes with 16 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM, 512 GB of PCIe Gen 4 (M.2 2280) storage and a Wi-Fi 7 capable modem with Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. Also, Lenovo pairs these components with the Core Ultra 5 325, an 8-core processor from Intel's Panther Lake family. According to PSREF, this may be the only model that North America receives, too.
