Garmin releases major update for older high-end smartwatches with multiple changes and improvements

In recent weeks, Garmin has delivered multiple beta updates for the Fenix 7 and Fenix 7 Pro (curr. $729 on Amazon). Culminating in the release of Beta Version 27.18 a few days ago, Garmin's 27.xx beta cycle followed the arrival of System Software 26.09 in April. Now, the company has transitioned Beta Version 27.18 to a stable software equivalent.

Specifically, Garmin has issued System Software 27.18 to all Pro and non-Pro smartwatches, including the Enduro 2, Epix 2 and the Marq Gen 2, among others. Moreover, it claims to have already offered the new stable update to around 50% of eligible smartwatches. If that has not occurred in your case yet, then you can request a manual download by navigating through the Main menu to Settings, System, Software Update and then to 'Check for Updates'.

In a series of forum posts, Garmin reports that System Software 27.18 contains eight overarching changes from its predecessor. For instance, the new stable update should resolve a bug that caused device shutdowns on older firmware when using navigation features. Also, Sleep Mode display dimming should work properly again after updating to System Software 27.18. Please see the changelog below and Garmin's forum post for more details.
