Lenovo launches flagship tablet with 2.5K 165 Hz OLED, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 24 GB RAM

Lenovo has now put its latest compact gaming tablet on sale in China. The Legion Y700 Infinite follows several teasers and earlier reports about its display, processor and gaming-focused design.

The tablet has an 8.4-inch OLED display with a 2,560 x 1,600-pixel resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate. Lenovo claims up to 4,000 nits of local peak brightness and up to 3,400 Hz touch sampling. We previously reported that the panel also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, with a Delta E below 1 and 3,840 Hz PWM dimming at lower brightness levels. 

Lenovo uses an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor in the Legion Y700 Infinite, with clock speeds of up to 4.74 GHz. Lenovo claims the tablet can score 4,585,844 on AnTuTu. It is paired with LPDDR5T memory and UFS 4.1 Pro storage. RAM options include 12 GB, 16 GB and 24 GB, while storage ranges from 256 GB to 1 TB.

At 6.5 mm thick and around 298 grams, the Legion Y700 Infinite is thinner and lighter than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered RedMagic Astra 2, which we recently covered. RedMagic's tablet has a faster 185 Hz OLED display, though.

Lenovo uses a 15,000 mm² vapor chamber to keep the tablet cool during gaming and other heavy tasks. The cooling plate sits in the middle of the tablet instead of near the edges, helping it spread heat across the body.

It features a 7,470 mAh battery that supports 68 W fast charging. The bypass charging feature lets users continue gaming while the tablet is connected to the charger. The tablet has two USB-C ports, with the port on the wider side also supporting DisplayPort output. It also has dual X-axis linear motors and Dolby Atmos speakers.

The tablet has an 8 MP front camera and a 50 MP rear camera. Up front, the camera is placed in a punch-hole cutout, unlike the Legion Tab Gen 5, which hides its camera under the display.

The tablet also supports 5G and dual-SIM connectivity. Lenovo has shown it with the G9 controller, an arcade dock and the CR7 Supreme Cooler Kit. We covered the G9 controller and CR7 cooler earlier when Lenovo first showed them with the tablet.

• 24 GB + 1 TB: CNY 8,499 (about $1,265); launch price CNY 7,999 (about $1,190)

The Legion Y700 Infinite is currently available only in China. Lenovo has not shared any information about a global release.
