RedMagic Astra 2 launches globally: 185 Hz display, 1,600 nits brightness, starts at $749

The Nubia RedMagic Astra 2—the successor to the RedMagic Astra we tested in 2025—is launching globally. Prices start at $749 (£599) for the configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, while the 16 GB / 512 GB variant costs $849 (£679). The tablet is available in Black Eclipse and Silver Starfrost. General availability is scheduled for August 2026; until then, early-bird offers include a free 80 W power adapter.
It features a 9.06-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,400 × 1,504 pixels. The panel supports refresh rates of up to 185 Hz for video content, while touch sampling averages 300 Hz and can peak at 2,000 Hz. Nubia claims a peak brightness of 1,600 cd/m², with 1,100 cd/m² across the full panel—sufficient for comfortable outdoor use. However, this may put noticeable strain on the 8,300 mAh battery.
The battery supports charging at up to 75 W via one of the two USB-C ports; the second port handles up to 40 W. This dual-port setup allows simultaneous charging and use of accessories such as a USB headset. Video output is supported as well, including 4K at 144 Hz and 8K at 60 Hz. Audio is handled by built-in stereo speakers with DTS Ultra certification.
The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with Nubia’s AquaCore Cooling System 2.0. Additional features include a 13 MP main camera, a 9 MP front-facing camera, and an integrated fingerprint sensor.
