If you're looking for a truly demanding tactical shooter, Insurgency: Sandstorm is well worth a look. The game skips a traditional campaign entirely, focusing instead on tactical firefights that can be played solo or in multiplayer. Released in 2018 by New World Interactive and Focus Entertainment, the game normally sells for around $30. Thanks to the current 75% Steam discount, however, it's once again available for just $7.50. According to SteamDB, this matches its all-time lowest price.

Insurgency: Sandstorm delivers realistic firefights with an extremely fast time-to-kill. In many situations, a single bullet is enough to eliminate an enemy – or get you killed yourself. Success depends not only on quick reflexes but also on careful tactical decision-making. Players can choose from a variety of PvP modes, cooperative matches with up to eight players against AI opponents, or solo play with AI-controlled teammates and enemies. Several classes are available, each with its own specialization, including the close-quarters-focused Breacher, the heavily armed Gunner, and the Commander and Observer, who can work together to call in fire support. The game also features more than 40 weapons, all of which can be customized with different optics, grips, magazines and other attachments.

German gaming magazine GameStar awarded the Steam Deck-compatible shooter (currently available on Amazon for $720) an impressive 89 out of 100, calling it a "fantastic tactical shooter" with intense firefights, deep tactical gameplay and an excellent weapon selection. Points were deducted for dated textures, occasionally unbalanced maps and AI opponents in PvE that can become fairly predictable. The Steam community has also responded positively, with 84% of more than 130,000 user reviews recommending the game.
