Acer releases affordable 2-in-1 tablet with up to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage
Acer has released the new A543 in China as a 2-in-1 Windows tablet. It works as a regular tablet, but the detachable keyboard can be added when users want a more laptop-like setup.
It features a 14-inch touchscreen with a 1,920 x 1,200-pixel resolution, a 60 Hz refresh rate, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Acer also lists an 84% screen-to-body ratio for the display.
Acer equips the tablet with Intel's Celeron J4105 processor, which has four cores and four threads. The chip runs at 1.5 GHz and can reach up to 2.5 GHz, with a listed power consumption of 10 W. Memory options include 8 GB, 12 GB and 16 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, while storage ranges from 256 GB to 1 TB.
The A543 measures 317.2 x 213.5 x 10 mm and weighs 1.5 kg. Acer's product images show both setups. The JD.com listing also mentions support for a dedicated expansion dock.
For connectivity, there is one USB-A 3.0 port, two USB-C ports and a Micro HDMI port. One USB-C port is a full-function port and supports external display output. A 3.5 mm headphone jack is included too.
The A543 supports dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. It has a 5 MP front camera and an 8 MP rear camera with autofocus. Two 1 W speakers are also built in.
This Acer tablet has a 6,000 mAh battery and supports 45 W wired charging. Acer says it can provide around seven hours of video playback, six hours of web browsing, or five hours of everyday office use. Acer states that these are its own estimates, so actual battery life may vary.
We have reviewed the Asus ProArt PZ13, which uses a Snapdragon X Plus processor and a higher-resolution OLED display (available on Amazon). Acer's A543 uses the older Celeron J4105 and a 1,920 x 1,200 display, but its 14-inch screen is slightly larger than the Asus' 13.3-inch panel.
Pricing and availability
The Acer A543 is currently available in China through JD.com at the following prices:
- 8 GB + 256 GB: CNY 2,599 (about $387)
- 12 GB + 512 GB: CNY 3,089 (about $460)
- 16 GB + 1 TB: CNY 3,999 (about $595)
Acer has not announced an international release for the A543 Windows tablet.
