Asus releases tablet with 12.2-inch 2.8K 144Hz OLED display and up to 256GB storage

Asus has released the Pad (T3201) tablet in China, following its earlier launch in India. We first covered the tablet when Asus announced it at Computex 2026.
The Chinese version comes with 256 GB of storage and costs CNY 3,999 (about $594), while the Indian version starts at ₹62,990 (about $658) for 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The 8 GB + 256 GB version costs ₹69,990 (about $731). The hardware is otherwise largely the same between the two versions.
The 12.2-inch OLED display has a 2,800 x 1,840 resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. The dual-layer panel can reach up to 2,000 nits of brightness and uses a 3:2 aspect ratio.
In terms of design, the Asus Pad measures 6.5 mm in thickness and weighs around 530 grams. Its body uses metal, while the rear panel is made of fiberglass.
The tablet comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor and 8 GB of physical LPDDR5X RAM in China. The JD.com listing shows 16 GB of RAM, but the extra memory comes from virtual RAM expansion.
Its 9,000 mAh battery supports up to 45 W charging. It also has a 13 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera and four Dolby Atmos speakers. Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and a microSD card slot supporting up to 1 TB are also included, and the tablet runs Android 16.
For some global pricing context, the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro has the same Dimensity 8300 processor as the Asus Pad, but comes with an LCD display.
Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10 FE takes a different approach with its Exynos 1580 processor and LCD display (curr. $449 on Amazon).
The (T3201) Pad is still not widely available in global markets, and Asus has not announced when it will launch elsewhere.
