Exclusive Nintendo adventure game to get remake for PS5 in 2027

Level-5 has confirmed a remake of Professor Layton and the Curious Village, the puzzle-adventure game that launched the long-running franchise on Nintendo DS in 2007. The remake will revisit the story of Professor Layton and his apprentice Luke as they travel to the eccentric village of St. Mystere to investigate the mystery surrounding the Golden Apple.
Rather than simply re-releasing the DS game, the remake is expected to feature redesigned characters and environments, high-resolution animations and a wider presentation designed to make the village and its inhabitants more immersive. Notably, this marks the first mainline Layton title to reach PlayStation hardware, breaking with the franchise's long-standing ties to Nintendo systems.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PC. Level-5 has not announced pricing, a specific release date or pre-order details. The remake will also arrive as the series prepares for Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, which is scheduled for later in 2026.
