Nintendo's new sale is sponsored by tariff-related refunds

Nintendo of America has announced a new sale that will begin on September 12 and run through to September 26. Tagged Customer Appreciation Sale, Nintendo says there will be up to 30% discounts on several digital games and bundles, as well as select physical games, DLCs, and more. However, what is interesting about the announcement is the reason for the sale.
According to the press release, the sale is Nintendo's way of saying thank you to its players for their support. It also adds that the sale is possible in part by tariff-related refunds.
If you recollect, Nintendo, alongside some other manufacturers and brands, refused to refund those who purchased products during the US-imposed tariffs on imported goods, which were later deemed illegal. On the other hand, smaller brands such as Panic have issued refunds to buyers who purchased their products during the time the tariff was in effect.
Considering some of Nintendo's reason for refusing to refund buyers is that “they received exactly what they paid for” and “customers weren't forced to pay for its products”, it is surprising it is now using those same refunds it received from the government as a reason for this sale. In addition, Nintendo is the winner here again, as it gets to rake in more revenue from the sales. Nintendo also doesn't fail to reiterate in the press release that it absorbed most tariff-related costs.
Nevertheless, buyers who have been waiting for discounts on wishlisted games, accessories, and merchandise can look forward to the sale when it begins. These discounts will be available on the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Store, and partner retail stores, such as Target. Unfortunately, there's no mention of a discount on the Switch 2 console (available on Amazon for $499).
