Colorful’s latest gaming laptop is part RTX 5060 machine, part orange cat

Colorful has launched another gaming laptop under its cat-themed Colorfire Meow brand. The new SKU, aptly called the Meow X16 Pro, doesn’t offer much in the way of cutting-edge hardware. One has to make do with a Zen 4-based AMD Ryzen 7 8745HX and a 115 Watt Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. The hardware is encased in an orange-and-white chassis covered with feline details, and one can only hope it doesn’t emulate orange cat behaviour in real life.

Together, both components can apparently consume up to 170 Watts of power, and Colorful plans to keep thermals in check via a two-fan, four-heatpipe cooling system. To save a few Watts during non-gaming workloads, the Meow X16 Pro can switch between discrete-GPU and hybrid graphics modes. The laptop ships with 16 GB of dual-channel DDR5-5200 memory and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 SSD, while an additional M.2 slot reportedly supports PCIe 5.0 drives.

The Meow X16 Pro comes with a 16-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, a 180 Hz refresh rate, 500-nit peak brightness, and 100% sRGB coverage. An 80 Wh battery sits underneath, with support for 100 W USB-C PD charging. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5 Gb Ethernet, three USB-A ports and two USB-C ports.

Internals notwithstanding, the Meow X16 Pro’s main appeal is its aesthetics. Colorful uses what it calls an "Orange Shadow White" finish, with a subtle 3D cat pattern printed into the lid, orange accents across the keyboard deck and a paw-print pattern on the touchpad. The keyboard area gets a pearl-effect coating, and the display hinge opens to 180 degrees.

If the exterior wasn’t catty enough, Colorful has thrown in a few unusual software features. Its Smart Control ecosystem allows the Meow X16 Pro to communicate with a smartphone, which can then double as a presentation remote or game controller. A dedicated low-power AI voice chip and offline wake engine also enable voice-controlled power-on and automatic unlocking without requiring a network connection.

For now, the laptop appears to be exclusive to China, and Colorful has not announced plans for an international release. It went on sale in China on September 1 for CNY 10,499 ($1565).
