Lenovo launches affordable gaming laptop with 16-inch 165Hz display

Lenovo recently teased a GT-branded Lecoo gaming laptop, and the company has now launched it in China. It comes with a similar set of specs as the LOQ Essential 15IRH11, an affordable model that was recently released in the global market.

Specifically, it's powered by the same Intel Core 5 205H that's available on one of the configurations for the Lenovo LOQ Essential 15IRH11. However, for the Lecoo GT 16, the company paired this rebranded Raptor Lake processor with DDR4 RAM rather than DDR5.

Another notable difference between the two is that the Lecoo GT 16 comes with a 16-inch display, whereas the LOQ gaming laptop features a 15.3-inch screen. Lenovo notes that the panel on the Lecoo-branded model has a 1920x1200 pixel resolution, 100% sRGB coverage, and a 165Hz refresh rate.

On the GPU side, the new affordable gaming laptop has the Nvidia RTX 3050 Laptop GPU with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM. This is a relatively dated entry-level option, and per our benchmarks, it doesn't really have what it takes to smoothly handle modern AAA games, even at 1080p resolution with the visual settings turned down.

Casual gaming and competitive games with tweaked visual settings shouldn't be a big deal for the Lecoo GT 16, though. Lenovo highlights a dual-fan setup that enables the laptop to deliver up to 140W of performance, with the GPU reaching 95W TGP.

Other highlights include dual M.2 slots that should be capable of holding up to an 8TB SSD each (Lexar 2TB NM790 curr. $314.67 on Amazon), a decent port configuration, 180W fast charging support, and a sleek design. The Lecoo GT 16 stands as an affordable gaming laptop in China, and the configuration with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD costs CNY 5,999, which converts to around $895.

It's unclear when this Lecoo GT 16 will go global, but Lenovo will likely launch it outside China under the IdeaPad Gaming lineup, possibly as a refreshed model of the 15ARH7.
