Deal | With companion dragon: 91%-positive tactical RPG drops to around $2 on Steam

Anyone who enjoys RPGs but also likes to think tactically gets both in King's Bounty: Crossworlds. The tactical RPG from Katauri Interactive and Fulqrum Publishing was released back in 2010, but still has a loyal player base to this day, regularly surpassing 100 concurrent players – and the game is currently available at its all-time low once again (according to SteamDB): With an 85% discount, Crossworlds is temporarily available for $2.24 instead of $14.99. The game is also playable on the Steam Deck.
Crossworlds puts players in the armor of Princess Amelie, who travels across the various islands of the fantasy world of Teana in search of the legendary knight Bill Gilbert. Her homeland of Darion is being overrun by hordes of demons, and Gilbert is supposed to help save the kingdom. Along the way, Amelie gradually gathers new creatures around her, building an army of her own. Crossworlds is an expanded version of King's Bounty: Armored Princess and includes its entire main campaign. It also adds additional quests, units, items and spells as well as two smaller standalone campaigns.

Players explore the open world in real time, searching for treasure, accepting quests and recruiting new troops. When combat begins, Crossworlds switches to a hex-based battlefield where units are moved turn by turn and their abilities are used tactically. A core aspect of the game is building an army: Different creatures, spells, equipment and hero abilities can be combined, opening up a wide range of strategies. Amelie is also accompanied by a dragon that can intervene in battles with abilities of its own.
In Gaming Nexus' review, Crossworlds received a strong score of 8.9 out of 10. According to the reviewers, the game offers varied hex-based battles, plenty of options for building an army and high replay value thanks to its different units and choices. However, they criticized the two additional campaigns for being relatively short, while much of the new content builds on the already familiar Armored Princess campaign. Players don't seem particularly bothered by that, though: 91% of the more than 1,600 Steam reviews are positive.
