Minisforum reveals launch window for Wildcat Lake all-flash NAS

Minisforum is getting ready to bring its S5 all-flash NAS to market, several months after first showing the compact storage system at an in-house event and then at Computex 2026. A new product page has now gone live for the Minisforum S5 AI NAS, confirming its processor and several final specifications ahead of an expected mid-October launch: everything but its price, by the looks of it. 

Initially, the company only said the system would use an Intel Core Series 3 processor. The new retail listing identifies that chip as the Intel Core 3 304, an entry-level member of the Intel Wildcat Lake chip family. It combines one Cougar Cove P-core with four low-power Darkmont cores for five CPU cores in total, while boosting to 4.3 GHz. The S5 runs Minisforum's MinisCloud OS and was previously shown with 12 GB LPDDR5X-7500 memory, but the updated listing does not mention it. 

Minisforum equips the fanless NAS with five M.2 NVMe SSD slots, each supporting drives up to 8 TB. Fully populated, that gives the tiny system up to 40 TB of solid-state storage without a single mechanical hard drive. Great device in theory, but given the price of flash storage, a mechanical hard drive bay or two would not have hurt. 

The Minisforum S5 AI NAS comes with 10GbE and 2.5GbE Ethernet and Wi-Fi 7.  You also get two 40 Gbps USB4 ports, an HDMI port and an additional USB Type-A port. The company pitches the system at home labs, creative workloads and media libraries, with the aluminium chassis relying on passive cooling, and Minisforum can get away with it because the Wildcat Lake chip isn’t particularly power-hungry.
