New smaller Microsoft Surface PC rumoured with 12-inch display, Nvidia RTX Spark and 32 GB RAM

Microsoft is expected to share more details about the Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Dev Box soon. Specifically, the company has scheduled an in-person event for October 7 in San Francisco, during which it will speak about the Surface brand.

Since Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is confirmed to be in attendance, the consensus is that Microsoft will focus on its RTX Spark-backed devices rather than those that utilise Intel or Qualcomm silicon. So far, this list only extends to the Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Dev Box. However, Roland Quandt asserts that these two may not be the only RTX Spark-powered devices that Microsoft is working on.

Writing on Bluesky, the reliable leaker reports a device codenamed 'Minos' may be based on Nvidia's RTX Spark platform, too. For the time being, Quandt has not named the device in question. Nonetheless, it appears to differ from the Surface Laptop Ultra, which Microsoft equips with a 15-inch display.

By contrast, Surface 'Minos' is said to adopt a 12-inch panel, which would make it even smaller than the Surface Laptop 13-inch we reviewed last year (curr. $849 on Amazon). Moreover, Quandt adds that the Surface 'Minos' combines an RTX Spark chipset with 24 GB or 32 GB of RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB of storage. Allegedly, this compact Surface PC will launch at 'insane pricing'. Exactly when and what the device looks like remains to be seen at this point, though.
