Just a few days ago, fresh rumours suggested once again that the iPhone Fold will feature a much wider aspect ratio than most of its competitors. Whilst the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 (priced at approx. $1,599 on Amazon) offers a 6.5-inch 21:9 outer screen – comparable in size to displays on conventional phones – Apple is reportedly opting for a smaller 5.3-inch secondary screen that is around the same width but shorter than the panel on Samsung’s flagship foldable.
Through an accessory manufacturer, media outlet iPhone-Ticker has allegedly obtained CAD files revealing the iPhone Fold’s dimensions. The documents indicate that the device measures 120.6 x 83.8 x 9.6 mm (4.75 x 3.30 x 0.38 in) when closed, making it 11 mm (0.43 in) wider and 0.7 mm (0.03 in) thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold7, but 38 mm (1.50 in) shorter. The secondary display is said to deliver a resolution of 2,088 x 1,422 pixels. The CAD renders also depict a pill-shaped camera module reminiscent of the iPhone Air, and a fingerprint sensor mounted on the right side.
Opening the iPhone Fold will apparently reveal a 7.76-inch main display with a resolution of 2,713 x 1,920 pixels, spanning an area of 167.6 x 120.6 mm (6.60 x 4.75 in). If accurate, this would make the device 24 mm (0.94 in) wider than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and give it a similar aspect ratio to the iPad mini, though the tablet is still slightly larger at 195.4 x 134.8 mm (7.69 x 5.31 in).
The images further indicate that the iPhone Fold measures 4.8 mm in thickness when opened – 0.6 mm thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold7, yet 0.8 mm thinner than the iPhone Air. Even though early rumours on upcoming Apple products should be treated with caution, speculations about the device's unusually wide aspect ratio have persisted for months. The iPhone Fold is expected to be officially announced in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 series.
