86% Apple MacBook Neo Review - Surprisingly good and capable laptop for $599 with one big flaw | Notebookcheck
Apple's new MacBook Neo is the first budget MacBook powered by the A18 Pro smartphone processor for $599. The result is a laptop that looks and feels like a MacBook, and is also surprisingly powerful for what it is. There is one big flaw though.

Apple A18 GPU: The Apple A18 GPU integrates five cores, hardware ray tracing and mesh support. Apple states that the A18 GPU is up to 40% faster than the A16 GPU in the iPhone 15. In our benchmarks, the graphics unit is positioned between the old A16 GPU and the A17 Pro GPU with 6 cores.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

A18 Pro: A powerful smartphone processor and formal successor to the A17 Pro. It features 2 performance cores and 4 efficient cores along with a 35 TOPS NPU and the 6-core A18 Pro GPU. The A18 Pro leaves the Dimensity 9300 as well as the Apple A17 Pro and the Apple A18 pretty far behind with at least a 10% advantage, as far as multi-thread performance is concerned; the 6-core GPU in the meantime manages to beat the 7-core M1 GPU in many tests.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
