Verdict - Powerful performance meets extensive features
In testing, the Minisforum M2 Pro impresses above all with a successful combination of high performance, extensive features, and surprisingly quiet operation. The Core Ultra X7 358H offers ample CPU performance, while the Arc B390 represents a significant step forward in graphics performance and often outperforms the AMD Radeon 890M. However, the performance isn’t always sufficient for more demanding games without some limitations.
Notable positives include the fast SSD, three M.2 slots, and the versatile array of ports. In addition to 10 Gbps LAN, there are three USB4 ports available, which can also be used to connect an external graphics card, among other things. Overall, the M2 Pro offers a high degree of flexibility for expansion. The effective cooling system is also impressive, keeping noise levels low despite the high performance. The mini-PC is less flexible when it comes to RAM, which is soldered in place and therefore cannot be upgraded. Additionally, Minisforum has omitted an OCuLink port, though this is well compensated for by the number of USB4 ports.
Overall, the M2 Pro delivers a strong package, though it has some weaknesses in terms of upgradeability and features. Given its price of 1,519 euros, the mini-PC is nonetheless an interesting choice for users who are looking for high performance in a small form factor and value quiet operation.

The Minisforum M2 Pro is available directly from the manufacturer. The configuration we tested—featuring an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, 32 GB of RAM, and a 1-TB SSD—currently costs $1,439. The mini PC can be ordered directly from the Minisforum store.
With the M2 Pro, Minisforum relies on Intel’s latest Panther Lake platform and combines the Core Ultra X7 358H with integrated Arc graphics. 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a fast SSD provide ample capacity for demanding applications, gaming, and local AI workloads. Notable features include the built-in power supply and speakers.

There are a few changes to the connectivity options compared to the AI X1 Pro. Minisforum has omitted OCuLink; instead, there are two USB4 ports on the back. Additionally, the M2 Pro is equipped with a significantly faster 10 Gbps LAN port.

Accessories
The Minisforum M2 Pro’s package contents are practical and include some useful extras. In addition to the stand and the VESA mount, passive coolers for additional SSDs are included. The package is rounded out by a power cable and an HDMI cable.
Maintenance
Maintenance and upgrades of the Minisforum M2 Pro are relatively straightforward. The bottom panel is held in place by a few screws, one of which is located under a rubber cover. To access the storage drive, you must first remove the power supply and speaker unit. The RAM is soldered in place and cannot be upgraded. However, the Wi-Fi module and the SSD are replaceable. Additionally, there are two other empty M.2-2280 slots available for additional SSDs.
Sustainability
A positive aspect worth highlighting is the extensive avoidance of plastic: The packaging material is also compact and is barely larger than the mini-PC and its accessories.

Test Conditions
The BIOS of the Minisforum M2 Pro offers various options for adjusting power consumption. For the tests, however, the device was operated entirely in its factory default state, in accordance with the preset “Auto” power profile.
UEFI Settings
Processor
The Intel Core Ultra X7 358H used in the Minisforum M2 Pro is one of Intel’s latest mobile processors and is based on a modern hybrid architecture. Out of the box, the CPU operates with a power profile of 65/45 watts, enabling both high short-term performance and stable operation under sustained load. In synthetic benchmarks, the Core Ultra X7 358H demonstrates high computational performance and can even compete with current Ryzen AI processors. The combination of numerous cores and high clock speeds is particularly effective in highly parallelized applications.
Under sustained full load, power consumption drops to the specified level of 45 watts. Accordingly, performance declines slightly over the course of a Cinebench R15 multi-loop test. The CPU reaches temperatures of up to 86 °C during this test.

System Performance
The mini-PC’s system performance benefits noticeably from the new platform. In particular, the fast RAM has a positive effect on overall performance, as demonstrated, among other things, by the AIDA64 memory tests. The integrated NPU has also been further developed compared to the previous generation and achieves significantly higher computing power for AI applications.

The built-in 1-TB YMTC PC411 SSD in the M.2-2280 form factor with PCIe 4.0 delivers outstanding performance. Transfer rates remain largely constant even under prolonged load. Overall, the Minisforum M2 Pro offers space for up to three M.2 SSDs: Two slots support PCIe 4.0 x4, and another is connected via PCIe 4.0 x1.

Graphics Card and Gaming Performance
The Minisforum M2 Pro uses the Intel Arc B390 integrated into the Core Ultra X7 358H. The new Xe3 architecture delivers a significant performance boost and clearly sets the iGPU apart from Intel’s previous integrated graphics units. Even when compared to the AMD Radeon 890M, the Arc B390 clearly comes out on top in most GPU benchmarks. Only the significantly more powerful Radeon 8060S from AMD’s Strix Halo platform remains out of reach.
This makes the Arc B390 suitable not only for everyday graphics tasks but also for gaming. Many current games run smoothly in Full HD, though for more demanding titles, reducing detail settings or using upscaling is recommended. For an integrated GPU, the M2 Pro thus offers impressive graphics performance.

Emissions
System noise
A dual-fan system is used to cool the Minisforum M2 Pro. Heat from the SoC is dissipated via a heat pipe. When idle, the mini PC operates almost silently. Even under load, the noise level remains pleasantly low: The sound pressure level rises only slightly, averaging 33 dB(A). With a maximum of 34.4 dB(A), the M2 Pro remains remarkably quiet even under heavy load, which is an excellent performance given the computing power it delivers.

The Minisforum M2 Pro also performs very well in terms of temperature. The cooling system keeps the case temperatures at a safe level below 40 °C, even under prolonged load. At the same time, the Core Ultra X7 358H also remains comparatively cool, with a maximum temperature of 76 °C. Overall, the cooling system is well-suited to the mini-PC’s performance capabilities.

Overall, the sound reproduction is well-suited for basic multimedia applications, so external speakers are not strictly necessary.

Energy Management
Despite its high computing power, the Minisforum M2 Pro is very efficient. Power consumption is correspondingly low when idle, while it increases significantly under load, as expected. The integrated power supply provides sufficient power reserves to operate the mini-PC and additional SSDs. Another unique feature is the option to power the M2 Pro via a USB4 port using an external power supply. This gives the system additional flexibility when it comes to power supply.
