Verdict - Ninkear L20 impresses with modern hardware in a mini form factor
The Ninkear L20 makes a good overall impression in our review. With the Intel Core Ultra 5 226V and 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at 8,533 MT/s, the compact mini PC offers good performance for office work, multimedia and everyday productivity tasks. Other positives include its modern connectivity with USB4, HDMI and DisplayPort, low DPC latencies and largely consistent performance under sustained load. The integrated NPU and Intel Arc Graphics 130V also make the L20 an up-to-date platform for AI applications and multimedia.
Compromises include the soldered RAM and the SSD's comparatively slow connection, which operates only over PCIe 3.0 x2. Idle power consumption is also relatively high. Under load, however, power consumption remains at a reasonable level. While noise levels of 41.4 to a maximum of 45.6 dB(A) under load are not excessively high, the L20 is not among the quietest models in its class.
Those who need more graphics and multithreaded performance will find more powerful alternatives in mini PCs based on current Ryzen processors, such as the Minisforum AI X1. The Ninkear L20, on the other hand, is primarily aimed at users looking for a compact all-rounder with a modern Intel platform, good connectivity, and solid everyday performance. In this segment, the L20 offers a well-rounded overall package, but its SSD and idle power consumption leave room for criticism.
Pros
Cons
Price and availability
The Ninkear L20 can be ordered directly from the manufacturer's shop starting at 699 euros. The otherwise identical version with 1 TB of storage, however, is available for 799 euros.
The Ninkear L20 brings modern hardware to the compact mini PC form factor with the Intel Core Ultra 5 226V and 16 GB of LPDDR5X at 8,533 MT/s. But how much performance does this small computer actually deliver – and how does it fare in everyday use? That's exactly what we explore in our review.
Specifications
Case & Connectivity
The Ninkear L20 features a simple and functional case that also incorporates familiar design elements from the Ninkear brand. Its compact design looks modern and fits easily on a desk. The L20 also offers versatile connectivity: multiple USB ports, including USB4, along with the option to connect monitors via HDMI and DisplayPort, provide a wide range of connection options. This makes the Ninkear L20 well equipped for both everyday use and productivity applications.

Accessories
The Ninkear L20 comes with a compact power adapter, an HDMI cable, and a VESA mount for space-saving installation of the mini PC on the back of a monitor.
Maintenance
The Ninkear L20 is fairly easy to service. Removing the bottom panel provides access to the installed components. Storage can be expanded via an additional M.2 slot, while the 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at 8,533 MT/s is soldered in place and therefore cannot be upgraded. The Wi-Fi module, on the other hand, is socketed and can be replaced if needed.
Sustainability
The manufacturer does not provide specific information on sustainability or environmental measures in the production of the Ninkear L20. The packaging consists mainly of cardboard and uses comparatively few foam inserts to protect the mini PC during transport.
Test conditions
All benchmarks of the Ninkear L20 were performed with the factory settings. The Intel Core Ultra 5 226V operates at a TDP of 37 watts.
Processor
The Intel Core Ultra 5 226V delivers solid performance in combination with the Ninkear L20 for typical office applications as well as multitasking and other everyday tasks. Even more demanding applications can be handled without any problems. Thanks to the efficient platform, performance remains largely stable over extended periods under load. In multithreaded benchmarks, however, the Core Ultra 5 226V cannot keep up with more powerful Ryzen APUs.

System Performance
The Ninkear L20 impresses in everyday use with smooth system performance and fast response times. The NPU integrated into the Intel Core Ultra 5 226V also enables the use of AI-powered applications, provided they offer the necessary support. The measured DPC latencies are unremarkable, so there are no significant limitations in normal everyday use.

Storage devices
In our test configuration, the Ninkear L20 is equipped with a Raysmem SSD with a storage capacity of 512 GB. However, the M.2 SSD is connected only via PCIe 3.0 x2, which limits the potential transfer rates. In everyday use, the speeds achieved are nevertheless sufficient for short loading and response times. An additional M.2 slot is also available for storage expansion.

The iGPU offers sufficient performance headroom for everyday multimedia tasks and high-resolution video playback. Older or less demanding games can also be played smoothly at reduced settings. However, the Arc Graphics 130V falls behind faster integrated graphics solutions such as the Arc Graphics 140V and AMD's Radeon 780M and Radeon 890M in benchmarks. Under sustained load, the graphics performance of the Ninkear L20 remains largely consistent.

Temperature
Even under sustained load, the Ninkear L20's chassis shows no notable temperature issues. Surface temperatures remain at a safe level, while the compact cooling system just manages to reliably keep the Intel Core Ultra 5 226V within its intended temperature range. Power consumption remains stable, with no thermal throttling occurring. This is also evident in the Cinebench R15 multi-core loop test, in which performance remains largely constant throughout the test period.
(+) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 37.1 °C / 99 F, compared to the average of 35.3 °C / 96 F, ranging from 20.6 to 69.5 °C for the class Mini PC.
(+) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 35 °C / 95 F, compared to the average of 36 °C / 97 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 31.4 °C / 89 F, compared to the device average of 32.1 °C / 90 F.
(+) 3: The average temperature for the upper side is 31.4 °C / 89 F, compared to the average of 32.1 °C / 90 F for the class Mini PC.
Energy management
The Ninkear L20 is generally energy-efficient under load, although its comparatively high idle power consumption stands out. Under heavier workloads, power consumption nevertheless remains reasonable for the performance offered. The included power adapter provides sufficient headroom and reliably powers the mini-PC even under load.
