Whisper-quiet operation, maximum efficiency, and attractive discounts: Geekom gives the popular A5 an upgrade to the AMD Ryzen 7 7730U. Anyone looking for the perfect compact powerhouse for their home office should take a closer look – our review reveals why this mini PC could become the new value-for-money star on your desk!

Geekom is taking its popular A5 mini PC into the next round, giving the updated 2027 Edition a targeted technical upgrade that should particularly appeal to value-conscious buyers. While the compact chassis in striking rose gold remains unchanged, the manufacturer is replacing its core component. Instead of the older AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, the significantly more efficient AMD Ryzen 7 7730U now powers the system. Although raw processor performance does not quite match that of its predecessor, as our in-depth review shows, Geekom addresses the biggest criticisms regarding power consumption and fan noise without compromising the attractive price point.

The manageable 0.5-liter chassis in the proven Intel NUC form factor continues to combine a plastic shell with an internal metal frame, giving the computer excellent rigidity. Despite its extremely compact dimensions of 117 × 112 × 49 millimeters, connectivity remains as generous as ever. Alongside 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet, two HDMI ports, and a total of six USB ports, Geekom once again includes a fast SD card reader with UHS-II support. Up to four displays can be used simultaneously via the two DisplayPort-capable USB Type-C ports. Geekom deliberately forgoes expensive premium features such as USB4 or Thunderbolt to maintain its competitive pricing.

Under the hood, the Ryzen 7 7730U with its 8 Zen 3 cores and 16 threads delivers excellent performance for the money. Paired with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512 GB NVMe SSD, the system effortlessly handles even more demanding office tasks. The biggest benefit of the frugal 15-watt TDP becomes apparent in everyday use: the mini PC runs whisper-quiet and consistently saves power. The integrated Radeon RX Vega 8 is perfectly adequate for media playback but noticeably limits gaming performance. In this respect, the affordable mini PC cannot keep up with modern rivals such as the Acemagic Retro X3 (with AMD Radeon 780M) or the Ninkear L20 (with Intel Arc 130V).

The Geekom A5 (2027 Edition) is available now: the manufacturer's store has a recommended retail price of $559, while Amazon already lists the mini PC for $479. Until December 31, 2026, the code "NCA527FF" offers additional savings—13 percent off at Geekom.de and 10 percent off at Amazon. Including the 3-year manufacturer's warranty, Geekom offers a package that is challenging to beat for budget-conscious buyers.
