Ranking: Best tablets reviewed by Notebookcheck
Q1 2025 update.
Tablets are extremely attractive devices when it comes to Internet surfing on the couch, light gaming on the go, quick note-taking or research at school or in the office. Even though Apple has established itself as the dominant player, some exciting non-iOS alternatives do exist. The tablets that performed best in our extensive testing are listed here.Christian Hintze, ✓ Sebastian Jankowski (translated by DeepL / Ninh Duy) Published 🇩🇪 🇹🇷 ...
Apple sparked a major boom in the tablet market with the launch of the first iPad. However, over time, the market has become more compact. The rise of large smartphones and the popularity of convertible notebooks have gradually reduced the demand for traditional tablets. Today, only a handful of well-known manufacturers dominate the top spots, while several budget-friendly alternatives from lesser-known brands in the Far East also exist. These often come with attractive price points but may lack reliable warranty support and long-term software updates. The following overview includes only the best-performing tablets from our extensive testing, with detailed reviews linked in the table.

Note: The transition to a new rating system took place in June 2024. In the updated v8 rating, certain criteria were adjusted to reflect current hardware developments, new factors were introduced, and some measurement techniques were modified. As a result, v8 ratings are slightly lower than v7 ratings and are not directly comparable to previous versions. For this reason, we currently provide two tables: one listing the best devices according to the v7 rating system and another for the v8 system. More details on the v8 rating system can be found here.

Editorial comment
For reasons of age, we are retiring the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 from our v7 list. In its place, three new tablets are joining the list: the Apple iPad Mini 7 (2024), the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro, and the Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus. These additions, in turn, displace the previous three last-place finishers: the Huawei MatePad 12 X, the Microsoft Surface Pro OLED Copilot+, and the Huawei MatePad 11.5 S.
Alternatives that didn't make it:
Former Top 10 tablets:
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra (91 %, 09/23)
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ (91 %, 10/23)
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 5G (91 %, 10/23
- Google Pixel Tablet (89 %, 09/23)
- Xiaomi Pad 6 Max 14 (89 %, 09/23)
- Xiaomi Pad 6 (89 %, 08/23)
- OnePlus Pad (89 %, 05/23)
1st place - Apple iPad Pro 13 (2024, M4)
The large iPad Pro 13 is thinner and lighter than ever, yet still accommodates the state-of-the-art Apple M4 and now features an OLED display. It is a high-end tablet that sets new standards in Apple's lineup.
The Apple iPad Pro 13 is slim, light, fast, and impresses with its powerful hardware.
The iPad Pro 13 (2024) is available in all variants directly from Apple and can also be purchased from notebooksbilliger.de. Our tested configuration costs 2,189 euros.
2nd place - Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra (Dimensity 9300+)
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is likely one of the best tablets ever, offering more than just a large display, which has been significantly improved with an anti-reflective coating. The MediaTek processor performed well in testing, ensuring no compromises in performance despite the change in manufacturer. Samsung has also finally included Wi-Fi 7, and a 5G modem is available as an option across all storage variants.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is not only the largest tablet in 2024 but also the best Android tablet, though Samsung has only made incremental innovations.
The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is available from major electronics retailers, including Amazon, as well as directly from Samsung.
3rd place - Apple iPad Mini 7 2024 (A17 Pro)
Apple has given the iPad Mini a minor upgrade after three years. The new, faster processor makes the small tablet compatible with Apple Intelligence, and storage options have been updated, although the smallest version still feels limited despite the memory doubling.
The Apple iPad Mini 7 (2024) remains the best compact tablet, offering everything a small tablet should have.
The Apple iPad Mini 7 (2024) is available from major retailers such as MediaMarkt and Amazon, as well as directly from Apple.
4th place - Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro (Snapdragon 8s Gen 3)
The Pad 7 Pro from Xiaomi outperforms the 2024 iPad Air in many areas while costing less than half the price. Its 3K display is unrivaled in this price range. The Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro impressed in our test with its excellent balance of performance, features, and affordability. With its powerful Qualcomm processor, high-resolution display free of PWM flickering, and an outstanding speaker system, this mid-range tablet is ideal for multimedia applications.
The Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro offers many reasons to buy, but the limitations of an import must be considered.
The Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro is currently only available as an import in Germany. In China, the base model costs 2,499 yuan (approximately 330 euros). At our partner store Trading Shenzhen, prices start at around 430 euros.
5th place - Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3)
Six speakers, a high-resolution, flicker-free display and plenty of power secure the Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus a place in the hearts of streaming fans and workhorses. It also comes with a comprehensive accessories package and a comparatively low price.
With the Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus, you get a lavishly equipped, large-format tablet that can even compete with the iPad Pro.
You pay just under 800 euros for the Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus directly from the manufacturer. Fortunately, there are also cheaper offers on the internet: At the time of testing, for example, you can save 100 euros at amazon.de. However, it is not clear here whether the keyboard cover is also included.
6th place - OnePlus Pad 2 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3)
With plenty of power, storage, and screen space, the OnePlus Pad 2 is a strong contender. The Chinese manufacturer aims to challenge the big players in the tablet market while significantly undercutting their prices.
The OnePlus Pad 2 delivers outstanding value for money and competes well with much more expensive tablets.
At the time of testing, the tablet was available at a notable discount online. OnePlus itself now sells the device for just under 500 euros, often including a free gift like the stylus or Folio Cover. On Amazon.de, however, it is still listed at the original price of 549 euros.
7th place - Lenovo Legion Tab (Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1)
Lenovo is leveraging the reputation of its Legion gaming laptops to introduce a compact gaming tablet. The Lenovo Legion Tab promises optimized cooling, dual USB-C ports, and long battery life. Its size alone makes it an attractive option for those seeking a powerful yet compact tablet.
The Lenovo Legion Tab is a powerful gaming tablet that could also appeal to non-gamers due to its compact dimensions and discreet design.
At the time of testing, the Lenovo Legion Tab was available directly from Lenovo for 449 euros. Stock is limited but regularly replenished, making it worth checking availability. There is also a significant discount at Galaxus.de, where the tablet is currently listed for around 500 euros, while on Amazon.de, it remains at the manufacturer's price of around 600 euros.
8th place - Apple iPad Air 13 (2024, M2)
The new Apple iPad Air surpasses every Android tablet with its M2 SoC and is now available in two sizes for the first time: 11-inch and 13-inch. With the iPad Air 13 (2024), Apple introduces a larger variant outside the Pro series for the first time.
The sixth-generation iPad Air now comes in a 13-inch version and delivers plenty of power with the Apple M2. However, apart from this, little has changed compared to its predecessor.
The Apple iPad Air 13 (2024) is available from a starting price of 949 euros at Notebooksbilliger, Amazon, and directly from Apple.
9th place - Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Plus (Dimensity 9300+)
Despite some drawbacks, the Galaxy Tab S10+ remains an excellent tablet for media consumption and, with its S Pen, is ideal for students and professionals alike. Its long update support and extensive features also make it a strong work device.
A bit more refinement would have benefited the Galaxy Tab S10+, as Samsung appears to have focused less on its premium tablets this year.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Plus starts at 1,119 euros for the 256 GB version, available from Amazon and other retailers, including Samsung. The 512 GB model costs 1,239 euros, while the 5G variant requires an additional 150 euros.
10th place - Honor MagicPad 2 (Snapdragon 8s Gen 3)
Officially priced at 600 euros, the MagicPad 2 is among the most affordable 12.x-inch tablets with an OLED screen. It also features a 144 Hz refresh rate and a sharp 3K resolution of 3,000 × 1,920 pixels. According to Honor, the display reaches up to 1,600 nits of brightness.
With its 12.3-inch OLED screen, IMAX Enhanced certification, and eight speakers, the Honor MagicPad 2 is perfect for movies and series. It also supports productivity with a keyboard and stylus.
The Honor MagicPad 2 costs 600 euros directly from Honor but can be found cheaper on Amazon, where it is listed for 549 euros.
