June 2025 update.
The allure of thin-and-light gaming laptops lies in their unique combination of slim, lightweight cases and powerful hardware, making them ideal for gaming on the go. Naturally, these devices also offer plenty of performance for other demanding tasks, but gaming is the focus here. This regularly updated list includes the best thin and light gaming laptops we've recently tested and rated.Christian Hintze, ✓ Sebastian Jankowski (translated by DeepL / Ninh Duy) Published 🇩🇪 🇪🇸 ...
"Mobile gaming"-what sounded like a bad joke just a few years ago has long since become common practice. Thanks to new manufacturing techniques and architectures, processors and graphics cards are not only becoming smaller, but also more energy-saving and easier to cool, making it possible to design ever thinner housings. Although high-end notebooks are still dominated by high-performance machines, the range of slim gamers is constantly growing.
In this overview, we've listed the best gaming laptops we've tested over the last 12 months, each weighing no more than 2.15 kilograms and less than 2.3 centimeters thick and toting at least an RTX 4060 or RTX 5050. You can find the links to the detailed reviews in the table below.

Note: The transition to a new rating system took place in June 2024. In the updated v8 rating, certain criteria were adjusted to reflect current hardware developments, new factors were introduced, and some measurement techniques were modified. As a result, v8 ratings are slightly lower than v7 ratings and are not directly comparable to previous versions. More details on the v8 rating system can be found here.
The table above shows an overview of the best thin & light gaming notebooks tested by Notebookcheck in the last 12 months and other relevant models that are still available. If two products have the same Notebookcheck rating, the one that is newer gets to sit above the other one. If multiple products have the same rating, the newer review is ranked higher. Prices are updated daily and may change accordingly.

Editorial comment
Our list does not change any further in June, as we mainly tested laptops in this category that we already have in our list with different features, including the Razer Blade 16 with RTX 5080 (instead of RTX 5090) and the ROG Zephyrus G14 with RTX 5070 Ti (instead of RTX 5080) as well as the ROG Zephyrus G16 with RTX 5070 Ti (instead of RTX 5090).
Alternatives that just didn't make it:
- Lenovo Legion 7 16 G9 (2.3 kg, 91 %, 04/24)
- Aorus 16X (2.33 kg, 87 %, 03/24)
- Razer Blade 16 (2.46 kg, 91 %, 02/24)
- HP Omen Transcend 16 (2.284 kg, 88 %, 02/24)
Former top ten contenders that have dropped out due to age:
- HP Omen Transcend 14 (03/24, 89 %)
- Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2024 (02/24, 93 %)
- Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 (02/24, 92 %)
- Razer Blade 14 2024 (02/24, 90 %)
1st place - Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 (Ultra 9 285H, RTX 5090)
The 2025 model of the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 goes one step further with the RTX 5090, Core Ultra 9 285H, Wi-Fi 7 and 64 GB RAM and is a slim high-end all-rounder that competes with the Razer Blade 16.
The 2025 update of the ROG Zephyrus G16 offers several upgrades and overall performance has increased thanks to the Arrow Lake processor and the new GeForce RTX 5090 laptop, as has the price.
The new ROG Zephyrus G16 can be ordered from online retailers such as Alternate for €4,799.
2nd place - Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, RTX 5080)
Asus equips the new 2025 model of the ROG Zephyrus G14 with significantly faster GPU options, eliminating one of the criticisms of its predecessor, which was only available with the RTX 4070 laptop. The new RTX 5080 laptop offers a significant leap in performance. However, the cooling also had to be adapted, which is why the housing is 2 mm thicker at the rear than before.
Thanks to higher-end GPUs, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 offers a significant leap in performance compared to its predecessor and is therefore relatively unrivaled among 14-inch gamers.
Our high-end test configuration has an RRP of 3,899 euros, but is not yet listed at retailers. The variant with the RTX 5070 Ti (2 TB SSD, 32 GB RAM) costs 3,399 euros and can be ordered from Notebooksbilliger, for example.
3rd place - Razer Blade 16 (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, RTX 5090)
An even flatter housing despite the RTX 5090, but a slightly weaker processor. The Blade 16 2025 is very mobile with a height of just under 17 mm and a weight of around 2 kg, but the quality of the case is still very high, as is its performance.
Razer Blade 16 impresses with high performance despite its thinner casing.
The new Razer Blade is currently available for pre-order and should be available from April. Our test device is listed on Amazon or Notebooksbilliger for 4,399 euros.
4th place - Gigabyte Aero X16 (Ryzen AI 7 350, RTX 5070)
With the Gigabyte Aero X16 gigabyte is launching one of the first gaming laptops on the market that is equipped with the new RTX 5070 laptop. Together with the AMD Ryzen processor, this results in an efficient package and many games can also be played smoothly in QHD resolution.
The Gigabyte Aero X16 is a slim 16-inch gaming laptop with GeForce RTX 5070 laptop and AMD CPU. The matte IPS display operates at 165 Hz and is well suited for gaming and the RAM can be expanded.
Currently, only the more expensive version of the Aero X16 is available for €1,999, for example from Amazon or Notebooksbilliger.
5th place - Core 15 M24 (Ryzen 7 8845HS, RTX 4060)
The new XMG Core 15 has the same high-quality and sleek metal casing as the XMG Fusion 15, so it is also potentially interesting for creators, but is a whole lot cheaper than the Fusion.
The XMG Core 15 is a powerful 3D gamer with a good build quality and metal casing, which gets a little too hot under heavy load.
In the Schenker store, prices for the Core 15 start at 1,399 euros. Our test model already costs 1,660 euros due to the larger battery, Wi-Fi 6E, more RAM and Samsung 990 Pro SSD. Prices for the Fusion 15, on the other hand, start at 1,600 euros.
6th place - Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 (Ultra 9 185H, RTX 4050)
If you are looking for a high-quality and stylish gaming or creator laptop, the Predator Triton Neo 16 Might appeal to you. Acer has not only given the 16-incher an absurdly long name, but also a sturdy metal casing whose silver-grey surfaces hardly attract fingerprints. With USB 4, the connectivity is not bad either. The Neo 16 also scores well in terms of picture quality. The 165 Hz IPS-based screen offers impressive brightness, a high resolution (3,200 x 2,000 pixels), a rich color space and respectable color accuracy thanks to Calman verification.
The Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 is a mid-range gamer with good features and hardly any weaknesses. Its strengths are the metal casing, the connections and the picture quality.
The Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 PTN16-51-978P is available from various online stores from around 1,900 euros.
7th place - Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 (Ultra 9 185H , RTX 4070)
The compact Predator Helios Neo 14 is designed to attract creative professionals and gamers alike. The right prerequisites are in place: Core Ultra 9 185H, GeForce RTX 4070, 32 GB RAM, 14.5-inch panel (3k, sRGB, 165 Hz, G-Sync) in 16:10 format, Thunderbolt 4 and good battery life.
Acer's Helios Neo 14 is a powerful gaming notebook in a compact 14.5-inch format. In addition to gaming, streaming and rendering are among the strengths of this powerhouse.
The Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 PHN14-51-91G5 is available from Notebooksbilliger.de at a price of 2,099 euros.
8th place - Acer Nitro 14 (Ryzen 5 8645HS, RTX 4060)
Ryzen 5 8645HS, GeForce RTX 4060, 16 GB RAM provide mid-range gaming power and long battery life. A 14.5-inch panel (2.5k, sRGB, 120 Hz, G-Sync) in 16:10 format and a USB 4 port complete the well-rounded hardware base. The complete package is available for 1,449 euros.
With the Nitro 14, Acer delivers a coherent mid-range gaming notebook in a compact format.
The Acer Nitro 14 AN14-41-R3MX is available from Notebooksbilliger.de at a price of 1,449 euros.
9th place - Asus TUF Gaming A14 (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, RTX 4060)
The Asus TUF Gaming A14 is one of the fastest 14-inch gaming notebooks on the market, as long as you can tolerate the high temperatures and fan noise.
The TUF Gaming A14 has almost identical features to the ROG Zephyrus G14, but it is significantly cheaper. It offers a good balance between productivity and gaming for its size, but you should expect loud fans and high temperatures during intensive use.
The Asus TUF Gaming A14 FA401WV is currently being offered by Asus for 1,500 euros.
10th place - Asus TUF Gaming A15 (Ryzen 9 8945H, RTX 4060)
The A15 FA507UV has a few delicacies to offer that you wouldn't necessarily expect from a gaming laptop in the lower price range: Ryzen 9 (Zen 4), GeForce RTX 4060, USB 4 and excellent battery life. The computer would be available from around 1,100 euros - without Windows.
With the TUF Gaming A15 FA507UV, Asus delivers a well-rounded FHD gaming notebook with impressive battery runtimes.
The Asus TUF Gaming A15 FA507UV is currently (as of 17.07.24) available at a reduced price of €1,169 from our loaner playox.de.
