Verdict - Samsung Galaxy Tab S11
In many ways, the Galaxy Tab S11 lives up to its reputation as a premium tablet. The build quality is first-class, the OLED screen is very bright, and the speakers are also excellent for a compact device. Anyone valuing transparency and sustainability regarding their tablet purchase will be well served by the Galaxy Tab S11, unlike its Chinese competitors.
There's actually little we can find to criticize the chipset, even though the Dimensity 9400+ doesn't set any performance benchmarks. The Samsung tablet rightly receives more criticism for its relatively high throttling behavior under load.
The Galaxy Tab S11's battery life and the OLED panel's color calibration, combined with a lack of customization options for the One UI 8 interface, are somewhat disappointing. The fingerprint sensor also doesn't work well in everyday situations.

Following last year's Plus model, the significantly more compact Galaxy Tab S11 is now enjoying an update. The Tab S9's successor is still an 11-inch tablet. Unlike the cheaper models, such as the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite or Tab S10 FE, Samsung doesn't use an Exynos chip, instead opting for the Dimensity 9400+.
Specifications - Samsung Galaxy Tab S11
Case - An Android tablet with an aluminum unibody
The Galaxy Tab S11 features an aluminum case complete with IP68 certification, which makes the Samsung tablet dust and water-resistant. The build quality is appealing, and the unibody design conveys a high level of quality.
Compared to the predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S11 has become thinner and lighter. One new feature is the location of the S Pen, which attaches magnetically to the frame rather than the back. However, the screen-to-body ratio of 83.6 percent is significantly lower than on the Ultra model, meaning the display bezels are somewhat thick.
Features - The Galaxy Tab S11 has expandable storage
Samsung has fitted its Galaxy Tab S11 with a fast USB 3.2 (Gen 1) port. We measured data transfer speeds of up to 351 MB/s using a Samsung 980 Pro (M2 SSD). Connected storage devices can be formatted using the NTFS (read-only) or exFAT formats. With the help of an adapter, the port can also be used as an output for image signals on external displays, and thanks to USB OTG, peripherals can also be easily connected.
Samsung's DeX interface and the Knox Vault platform (which uses a dedicated processor unit for sensitive data) are also offered. One new feature is an "Extended Mode" for a dual-screen setup with an external monitor, where DeX runs simultaneously on both displays, complete with drag-and-drop functionality.
microSD Card Reader
Unlike many competitors, the Galaxy Tab S11's storage can be expanded via memory cards with a capacity of up to 2 TB. In combination with our reference card AV PRO V60, we achieved solid transfer speeds, but the Galaxy Tab S10 FE has significantly higher data throughput.

Software - The Samsung tablet offers long updates
The Galaxy Tab S11 already runs Android 16, which includes the One UI 8 user interface. Samsung emphasizes its multimodal AI "Gemini Live" in its software, allowing users to interact with the AI assistant in real time. The familiar Galaxy AI features, such as a drawing and writing assistant, are also on board.
Samsung has promised seven major updates and seven years of security updates for its tablet. However, the Tab S11 will likely receive patches quarterly rather than monthly – similar to its predecessor. Our review device came with the August 2025 security patches installed.
Sustainability
Detailed information regarding the tablet's sustainability can be found in the environmental report and the manufacturer's data sheet. The packaging is made of recycled paper, and there is an absence of film around the frame.
Communication and GNSS - A 5G Android tablet
Although the compact tablet in the Tab S11 series only offers Wi-Fi 6E and not the modern Wi-Fi 7 standard, it does use the 6 GHz frequency band for Wi-Fi transmissions. In our tests with the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000, it achieved very high and relatively consistent transfer rates, reaching a peak of over 1,800 Mbps.

Samsung has installed a GNSS module not only in the 5G version, but also in our Wi-Fi model – all common satellite systems are supported, albeit only with a single-band connection.
To test its accuracy, we took the Galaxy tablet on a bike ride with a Garmin Venu 2. The Tab S11 mapped our route reliably, although some deviations were noticeable.
Cameras - The Galaxy Tab S11 comes with autofocus
Once again, the Galaxy Tab S9's successor possesses a 13-megapixel rear camera, which includes autofocus and a 4K video recording option. The photo results are decent for a tablet, with good quality snapshots in good lighting conditions that are also suitable for digitizing notes. Other than that, a smartphone should be used for photos, as neither the Galaxy Tab S11's sharpness nor its dynamic range really impressed us.

Accessories and warranty - A Samsung tablet with Care+
The Galaxy Tab S11 doesn't come with a power adapter. Aside from a USB cable, the box contains only information and the new S Pen. A matching Book Cover Keyboard Slim can be purchased separately (RRP: $145).
In Germany. Samsung's premium tablet comes with a 24-month warranty, which can optionally be supplemented with the Care+.
Input devices and operation - The Android tablet houses a fingerprint sensor
The Galaxy Tab S11's responsive touchscreen accurately translates our fingertip inputs. Thanks to the 120 Hz refresh rate, operation is incredibly smooth.
The S Pen can be magnetically attached to the top of the frame and works without requiring a Bluetooth connection. New features include not only its location on the tablet, but also its rough material surface and angular design, which is reminiscent of a classic pencil. Using the stylus, the Samsung tablet offers a pleasant writing and drawing experience.
You can easily access the optical fingerprint sensor with your right thumb. However, we weren't particularly impressed with its recognition rate and speed. 2D facial recognition is also available for biometric security.
Display - Samsung's tablet boasts an OLED panel
Samsung's 11-inch OLED display offers a peak brightness of 1,600 cd/m² and a solid 274 PPI pixel density. It's encouraging that we also managed to measure this brightness (APL18: 1,575 cd/m², HDR: 1,648 cd/m²).
Samsung uses pulse-width modulation to control the display brightness. The flickering typical of OLEDs occurs at a frequency of 480 Hz across the entire brightness range.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)
Screen flickering / PWM detected | 480 Hz Amplitude: 15.55 % | ||
The display backlight flickers at 480 Hz (worst case, e.g., utilizing PWM) . The frequency of 480 Hz is relatively high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering. However, there are reports that some users are still sensitive to PWM at 500 Hz and above, so be aware. In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8218 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured. |
A series of measurements with a fixed zoom level and different brightness settings (The amplitude curve at minimum brightness appears flat, but this is due to the scaling. The enlarged version of the amplitude at minimum brightness can be seen in the info box.)
Our color reproduction analysis using a photo spectrometer and CalMAN software revealed the Tab S11 to have increased DeltaE deviations from the sRGB color space, given its price range. Unfortunately, the new One UI 8 interface hasn't brought any improvements to color customization. Unnecessary compromises (few profiles, limited white representation, etc.) still have to be made.

The Galaxy Tab S11 is easy to use outdoors, and the display's contents are clearly visible even in direct sunlight. There are also no faults to be found regarding the viewing angle stability, and although a slight reddish tint is noticeable when viewed from a wide angle, this shouldn't be a major issue in everyday use.
Performance - The Galaxy Tab S11 packs a top-end SoC
The Galaxy Tab S11 draws its power from a fast Dimensity 9400+ processor. In our benchmarks, the Samsung tablet performed very well for a compact 11-inch device, although there are also less compact devices in this price range, such as the OnePlus Pad 3, which features a Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Speakers
The Galaxy Tab S11's four speakers provide excellent sound quality. Mids and highs are reproduced linearly, and bass is also noticeable. The sound is very appealing for an 11-inch tablet.
Audio content can be played via the USB-C port, and Bluetooth 5.4 is available wirelessly - albeit with a rather limited number of audio codecs.

Battery runtimes - The Android tablet isn't a particularly fast charger
Power consumption
The 8,400 mAh battery can be charged up to a maximum of 45 watts. Paired with the Xiaomi 25000 power bank, this resulted in a charging time of around 1.5 hours. The 11-inch tablet's power consumption could be lower, especially when idle, and at over 4 watts, it is noticeably higher than that of the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro.
