Reviews for the Motorola Moto G7 Power
On paper, the Motorola Moto G7 Power is all about battery life. Motorola promises up to 60 hours of battery life from a single charge, but the device shares many traits with its G7 siblings like its glass back and Snapdragon 632 SoC. Read on to find out how the latest Moto G7 model to enter our offices fares in our tests and whether it lives up to expectations.

Archive.org versionThe G7 Power is not a flashy device. For the most part, it's a fine option for a cheap phone, with performance that's serviceable (so long as you don't game) and a software experience and selection of features that are among the finest in its class.

Archive.org versionThe G7 Power isn’t a bad phone and as I said earlier, had I not recently used the G7 which was only $50 more in cost – it would probably have rated far higher for me. The problem is that Motorola have proven that they can do far better than this on the camera and screen which is a little disappointing.

Archive.org versionFor my money, I'd skip the regular G7's frivolous features, save $50 and go for the G7 Power. The peace of mind of having a phone that lasts an eternity is worth it. While the Nokia 7.1 offers a more premium design and better camera if you have more to spend, anyone chiefly concerned about battery life and looking for a device under $300 needn't look further than the G7 Power.

Archive.org versionBoth the G7 and the G7 Power offer great devices for Moto to add to its lineup for 2019. However, they target a need for two different people depending on their preference. Do you want a sleeker design with slightly better internals, screen, and camera? Then you should buy the G7 standard.

Archive.org versionTo me, the G7 Power really feels like the Moto G7 to get. Its battery life is incredible and worth the cost-cutting that Motorola did elsewhere. When you’ve got a $250 phone that’s plenty good at a smartphone’s core duties and can handily outlast a Galaxy S10 Plus or iPhone XR, that’s pretty special.

Archive.org versionBuy it. The Moto G7 Power isn't pretty, but it's powerful enough and has superior battery life. Those looking for a more-premium midrange handset should consider Nokia's 7.1, but if all you need is a long-lasting smartphone under $300, this is your best bet.

Archive.org versionThe Moto G7 and Moto G7 Power offer excellent value. You're getting a great design, modern features, and clean and fast software. For the price, Motorola elegantly balances performance and features without making too many compromises. The Moto G7 will give you the best that Motorola has to offer in the G7 series while the Moto G7 Power focuses on extended battery life.

Archive.org versionIf the Moto G7 Power was the only device to come out from the G7 series, maybe along with the G7 Play, I'd say it's a solid device. But sadly, it sits aside the G7, which only costs $50 more. The Moto G7 is more stylish, has more RAM, has a better camera, has a better display, has better audio, and more. Motorola also still sells the Moto G6, which has a 1080p display, along with a 64GB storage and 4GB RAM variant, and that only costs $199.

Archive.org versionEarlier this month, I reviewed the Moto G7, and once again it sets the bar for the mid-range. But Motorola launched a variety of G7 devices, and now I've got my hands on the Moto G7 Power.

Archive.org versionWhile its camera and design won't blow away users of high-end phones, the Moto G7 Power's impressive battery size and specs make it a compelling option for users on a budget. Not all its features are immediately intuitive, which holds the phone back from greatness.

Archive.org versionOverall, Moto is not doing anything extraordinary, but it does not need to: the new Moto phones are an evolution in terms of design with thinner bezels and more stylish looks, they are faster with the Snapdragon 6xx series of chips, and they work reliably, with a clean and likeable interface.

Archive.org versionThe Moto G7 Power has a lot of strings to its bow. It sits at the affordable end of the Android spectrum, providing unbeatable battery power at a great price point. There's a big display, expandable storage, bloat-free software, and enough power to attack most things - even if you need to let the settings slide.

Archive.org versionObviously, the Moto G7 Power isn't the most powerful smartphone in its price bracket. Motorola is no Xiaomi or Realme, so we never really expected for Moto to match their budget offers. And yet, the Power comes very close, which is quite the surprise.

Archive.org versionOffering a near-unskinned version of Android, solid specs for the money and a giant 5000mAh cell, the Moto G7 Power may not be cutting-edge, or the most alluring phone on the market. However, if it can deliver on Motorola’s battery claims then it could be one of the best sub-£200 phones to arrive this year.

Archive.org versionThe Moto G7 Power is a decent budget phone with a colossal 5,000mAh battery, a feature that is far and away the most exciting thing about the phone.

Comment
Model: The Motorola Moto G7 Power is a budget smartphone with battery life as the highlight. The Moto G7 claims to give up to 3 days of battery life, plus hours of power in just minutes with turbo power charging. Users can enjoy an ultrawide 6.2-inch HD+ display, the responsive performance of an octa-core processor, and much more on a budget. The Moto G7 Power has an industry-leading 5000 mAh battery and lasts up to 3 days on one charge. Plus, turbo power is capable of giving 9 hours of power in 15 minutes. For design, the phone feels lightweight because it weighs a mere 193 g and also premium. The Moto G7 Power measures at 160.83 x 76 x 9.4 mm. A water-repellent design protects body and screen against accidental spills, sweat, and light rain. However, users only have Marine Blue as color option. As for the display, users can enjoy expansive views on a stunning 6.2-inch HD+ display. The 19:9 aspect ratio provides a big screen viewing experience, fully immersing users in movies, games and photos. The resolution is relatively low at 1,520 × 720 pixels. But on the plus side, it is less power demanding compared to the higher resolution screens.
The 12 MP rear camera uses phase detection autofocus (PDAF) to capture subjects in an instant. Plus, large 1.25 µm pixels let in more light. So, users get better results even indoors and when it's dark out. Group shots are more fun, too, with group selfie mode on the 8 MP front camera. Hi-res zoom restores details and image clarity, which are typically lost with digital zooming. A built-in screen flash helps to get the perfect selfie lighting every time. Users can also shoot cinemagraphs and 4K video. Plus, users can search what they see with Google Lens. For performance, users can edit photos, play 3D games, and run multiple apps at once. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 octa-core 1.8 GHz processor gives the speed needed to do it all. The processor is paired with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB microSD storage. As for the operating system, it is running on Android 9. For the most part, the experience is more or less the same as stock Android. There is some exclusive Moto experience. With One Button Nav, users can navigate with a virtual bar. Besides that, with Lift to Unlock, users can pick up the phone to wake the display. As a conclusion, the Motorola Moto G7 Power is a budget smartphone with a huge battery. It is suitable for less demanding users since the camera, performance and display is quite entry level.
