Two new Eurasia Economic Commission filings by Apple show that the Cupertino giant is prepping five new iPads. Among these is thought to be the rumored 10.2-inch replacement for the ageing entry-level 9.7-inch iPad design.

Apple is prepping five new iPads for release likely within the next quarter. Two new filings with the Russian Eurasia Economic Commission reveal that Apple is prepping at least five new iPad models for release before the end of 2019 all running iOS 13. The new models go by the designations: A2068, A2198, A2230, A2197 and A2228.

At least one of the new models is expected to be the rumored 10.2-inch replacement for the ageing 9.7-inch entry-level iPad design. Apple has stuck with this particular design for several years but a model with a larger display and thinner bezels is long overdue thanks to Apple's reluctance to invest in new tooling if can avoid it. The most recent iPad design are the two iPad Pro models released in late 2018, the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models. Although thinner and with narrow bezels, there have been concerns about their durability.

It wouldn't surprise if at least a couple of the models are refreshed iPad Pro designs that could incorporate a stiffer chassis. These would likely pick up Apple's latest A13X processors that would follow the launch of the A13-powered iPhone's due out in the September to October launch window. The A12X Bionic powering the current models are already more powerful that the recently superseded 13-inch MacBook Pro model, so if we do see a couple of new iPad Pro models, expect them to be performance beasts.
