There are quite a few GTX 1660 Ti mid-range gaming laptops out there, and while there are a few reasons to consider the MSI GL63 in this class, there are also a handful of others that can steer you towards the competition. The GL63 still sets the bar at performance, thermals and audio, but its old design is no longer on par with today's expectations, nor are the screen options and the short battery life, thus MSI needs to compensate for these with aggressive discounts in order to still make this notebook a worthy choice in 2019.

Model: MSI never ceases to amaze with its line-up of impeccable gaming laptops. The brand continues to deliver us with another mind-boggling laptop model, which cramps coolness, stylishness, and top-tier performance in one singular package – the MSI GL63 8SD. The color red has been a dominant flag color in the gaming scene, which has embellished various gaming devices left and right as a national identity. Right off the bat, the MSI GL63 8SD can be instantly recognized as one of the high-performance gaming laptops in the industry due to its distinguishable red linings. On top of that, the gaming keyboard of the MSI GL63 8SD is designed by SteelSeries – an elite Danish manufacturer of gaming peripherals and accessories. The contribution in design and aesthetics from a world-renowned workforce speaks for itself. The keyboard is designed to have a far better response to tactile feedback, a strategically spaced WASD movement zone for optimal input per millisecond, mechanical-level shielding, as well as support of anti-ghosting up to 45 keys.
Needless to say, the MSI GL63 8SD itself is also rigged with powerful gaming components such as the likes of the new NVIDIA Turing GPU architecture and RTX graphics card. The RTX graphics card enables real-time ray tracing to be conducted in-game in order to emulate the best visual graphics possible without putting smooth gameplay performance on the line. Based on reliable research and studies, gameplay performance has demonstrated a significant increase up to a staggering 40 percent. This prominent increase of rate performance lifts the MSI GL63 8SD to a higher pedestal due to the advancement that it can bring to the table.
The MSI GL63 8SD offers extra (optional) performance-enhancing features that are guaranteed to boost gameplay performance to an otherworldly level. Instead of opting for a general screen panel, users can go for the 120 Hz panel, which enables 120 picture frames per second. Hardcore gamers can now inherently avoid confusion in chaotic moments and delay in hitbox registrations by experiencing Triple A (AAA) games at 120 picture frames per second. Furthermore, the MSI GL63 8SD is not entirely oblivious to how horrendous Internet connection can affect gameplay. With the Killer Gaming LAN designed to put an end to the sufferings of lag, this competitive chip can both protect and prioritize network trafficking for games. Data can now be redirected to fuel gameplay instead of being sidetracked by other insignificant tasks running in the background. Data transference and bandwidth can easily be managed in accordance to one’s liking with the Killer Control Center.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile: Mid range dedicated graphics card for laptops based on the desktop GTX 1660 Ti and therefore the Turing architecture without raytracing and Tensor cores. The performance of the Max-P variant should be similar to an older GTX 1070.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

80%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
