Apple and Google collaborate on a new API to help track Covid-19 transmission

Consumer tech has already been used for 'Covid-19 contact tracing' in Taiwan and South Korea already. Now, Google and Apple have jointly announced a new API to do the same using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). It will apparently used voluntarily-donated, anonymized data on those infected with the virus to alert other users who may have been in transmission-range of them.

The upcoming Intel Core i9-10900K processor has been spotted speeding along on Geekbench 5, reaching a maximum frequency of 5.08 GHz. The Comet Lake chip in combination with an MSI Z490-S01 motherboard racked up a very strong single-core score but still stuttered behind the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X in the multi-core test.

Intel Core i9-10980HK practically ties with AMD Ryzen 7 4800H in Geekbench 5 comparison but there is a huge power difference

A new Intel Core i9-10980HK processor has been spotted in a Gigabyte Aorus 17X YB laptop on Geekbench 5. The chip managed a single-core score of 1,352 points and a multi-core score of 8,386 points. The results are very similar to those of an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H in an Asus TUF Gaming laptop, but the Comet Lake processor can rely on a much higher power draw than the Renoir APU.

The Google Pixel 5 could sport a custom-built 5nm Exynos SoC featuring Cortex-A78 cores

Reports a few weeks ago touted Google to eschew the Snapdragon 865 in its Pixel 5 plans. A new report has now surfaced, claiming that Samsung is working on a customized SoC for Google, built on a next-gen 5nm manufacturing node and featuring Cortex-A78 CPU cores.

Google's upcoming Pixel Buds 2 are billed for a spring release. The true wireless earbuds were put on pre-order at a third-party retail store a while ago, but it would appear that all orders have now been canceled, the implications of which are unknown.

Intel Xe-HP "High Performance" DG2 GPU spotted in open source documentation

We still have much to learn about Intel's Gen12 GPUs, but it turns out that Intel published information about the Xe-HP architecture in January. Spotted by @KOMACHI_ENSAKA in open-source documentation, the Xe-HP architecture will be the basis of workstation and high-end GPUs.

LG NanoCell 2020 TVs: Up to 8K, 86-inches and priced from US$599

The 2020-editions of LG NanoCell TVs range from 49-inches to 86-inches and come in 4K or 8K flavours. With some editions available to purchase now, LG will start offering 8K models from next month. Varying between US$599 and US$4,999, all models support Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, AirPlay 2 and Apple HomeKit.
