Verdict — Better Than The Dell Pro 7 14 In Certain Aspects
Despite being more affordable than the Dell Pro 7 14, the Dell Pro 5 14 sports similar chassis features and the same input devices, battery sizes, webcam, and display options for an almost identical user experience. In fact, the Dell Pro 5 14 carries some features not available on the Dell Pro 7 14 including RJ-45, optional LPCAMM2, and Panther Lake X7 processors the latter of which boosts graphics performance significantly for those who need it.
As the less expensive model, however, the Dell Pro 5 14 is just slightly thicker and heavier than its more pricier sibling and so the extra features come at the cost of size and weight. Competitors like the lighter Lenovo ThinkPad T14s are more travel-friendly with similiar screen size and hardware options.
Other smaller nitpicks include the lack of USB-C ports along the right edge which limits charging along the left edge of the system only. Additionally, the SSD and iGPU tend to throttle a bit after a few minutes of stress unlike what we experienced on the pricier Dell Pro 7 14. Practically speaking, however, the small dips in performance are negligible in the vast majority of use cases.
Pros
Cons
Price and Availability
Configurations start at $2000 for the base Core Ultra 5 configuration up to $3000 or more for the Core Ultra X7 configuration.
Much like how the high-end Dell Pro 7 14 series succeeds the older Latitude 7400 series, the new midrange Dell Pro 5 14 replaces the older Latitude 5400 series. Even so, the model is strikingly similar to the more expensive Dell Pro 7 14 in several key ways.
Our specific test unit is a higher-end configuration with the Core Ultra X7 368H vPro Panther Lake CPU, 64 GB of removable LPCAMM2, and a 1200p 120 Hz IPS display for approximately $4000. Lesser SKUs start at half the price for the Core Ultra 5 CPU or standard SODIMM RAM modules.
Alternatives include other business-oriented laptops like the Lenovo ThinkPad T14s or HP EliteBook 14 series.

Specifications
Case
The chassis is nearly identical to the Dell Pro 7 14 in materials, texture, size, and first impressions. However, the base of the Dell Pro 5 14 can be configured with either anodized aluminum or glass fiber composite the latter of which is ever-so-slightly thicker (18.65 mm vs. 18.1 mm). We recommend anodized aluminum as the thinner profile is more noticeable than the very light (~10 g) weight savings associated with glass fiber.

Sustainability
The model features recycled steel, cobalt, ocean-bound plastics, and aluminum for the outer lid, palm rests, and bottom cover in various percentages. The packaging is plastic-free and fully recyclable.
Display
A total of seven display options are available all of which are IPS except for a single FHD OLED option. There are no touchscreen or HDR options which is typical of many business-oriented clamshells.
Only one of the options supports a refresh rate of 1 Hz for additional power saving as all others have a floor of only 60 Hz or 48 Hz.

Storage Devices
AS SSD would fail to initialize and so its results are not included below. Nonetheless, the SK Hynix PCB01 PCIe5 SSD would throttle slightly from 14 GB/s to 11 GB/s after a few minutes into our stress test.
Keep in mind that the system supports M.2 2280 SSDs only if configured with LPCAMM2; otherwise, only M.2230 SSDs are supported if configured with SODIMM.
Disk Throttling: DiskSpd Read Loop, Queue Depth 8
GPU Performance
While graphics performance is strong for the size, it tends to throttle after 10 minutes of stress as shown by our Cyberpunk 2077 test below whereas the Asus ExpertBook Ultra would sustain more consistent frame rates over time despite both sporting the same integrated Arc B390 GPU.
