Verdict — Small Updates For Big Improvements
While the recent naming changes to Dell laptops can be a headache to follow, the iterative designs and yearly updates have otherwise been moving in a more consistent and confident direction. The various external updates make for a cleaner look while maintaining the professional aesthetic and ease of repair that business laptops are generally known for. We commend the variety of integrated ports and their optimal positioning instead of relying on USB-C options only. Internally, processor performance with AMD has seen a significant boost especially when compared to older Lunar Lake-V options.
The list of complaints is otherwise minor. Footprint is slightly larger than some HP Elite models while both HDR support and Turbo Boost performance are limited. More intricate fan noise controls would have been appreciated as well since any RPM changes can be sudden and audible on the Dell Pro 7 14. We recommend skipping the base display option due to its very poor ~60% sRGB colors and configuring with the smaller and lighter 55 Wh battery option if super-long runtimes aren't needed. The top-end AMD Dell Pro 7 14 configuration overpowers the current Intel Series 3 options to be the better pick for performance hunters.

The 14-inch Dell Pro 7 series succeeds the older generation Latitude 7000 series designed for offices or businesss. The latest model supports both Intel Series 3 vPro and AMD Zen 5 Pro processor options for a very wide range of SKUs.
Our test unit is a higher-end AMD configuration with the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 CPU and 1200p 120 Hz IPS display for almost $5000 USD. Other SKUs start with the slower Ryzen AI 5 Pro 435 and up to a 1600p 120 Hz display.
The 14-inch Dell Pro competes with other business-centric subnotebooks like the Asus ExpertBook series, Lenovo ThinkPad T14 series, or the HP Elite series.

Case
The chassis combines the smoother and sleeker look of the Dell Pro 14 Premium with the functionality and sturdiness of the Latitude 7440 for a professional yet attractive look. In other words, the new design is more stylish than older Latitude models without needing to sacrifice rigidity or build quality along the way. Nonetheless, the outer lid could still be more rigid as it flexes a bit more than we would like.
