Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 14 review - The multimedia laptop with 120-Hz OLED and an RTX 4050 Laptop
GPU performance boost.
Lenovo's Yoga Pro 7 14 is a fast multimedia laptop that can optionally be equipped with dedicated GeForce GPUs. We tested the version with the Meteor Lake Core Ultra 7 155H, 32 GB RAM, 120-Hz OLED and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop.Andreas Osthoff, 👁 Andreas Osthoff (translated by Daisy Dickson) Published 🇩🇪 🇷🇺 ...
Verdict - The Yoga Pro 7 14 boasts better GPU performance thanks to its RTX 4050 Laptop
The Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 14 is a good multimedia laptop and its dedicated GeForce RTX 4050 laptop doubles the graphics performance of the iGPU configurations. Its performance development with a maximum TGP of 60 watts is decent and the processor performance of the laptop's Core Ultra 7 155H is similarly good (70 watts). However, its high power limits lead to loud fans and comparing it with the AMD variant shows that the Ryzen AI 9 365 offers slightly more performance with less power. As a result, the AMD/Nvidia combination would actually be the better choice.
The Yoga's case—including its ports—is impressive and its keyboard is super comfortable. Plus, it features good speakers. The optional 120-Hz OLED screen delivers great picture quality and Lenovo provides accurate profiles for P3 and sRGB. However, the panel is also pretty reflective and we noted constant PWM flickering at 240 Hz.
In addition to the loud fans, the laptop's weak points include its runtimes, which are unfortunately mediocre at best. Furthermore, its power supply unit is not sufficient in size. Under very high load, the battery has to be tapped to cover the device's power consumption. This is unnecessary and certainly not good for the battery at all. Lenovo should have included a 130-watt power supply unit. Not to mention that its RAM can't be upgraded and you can only install a compact M.2-2242 SSD due to the dedicated GPU.

Details here
Lenovo offers its Yoga Pro 7 14 in various configurations and we have already tested the AMD Zen5 and Intel models (each with integrated graphics cards), for example. However, more powerful variants (especially regarding the GPU) with up to the RTX 4060 Laptop are also available. Our current test device for an MRSP of just over $1,700 comes with the Meteor Lake Core Ultra 7 155H processor, 32 GB RAM, a 2.8K OLED screen at 120 Hz and the dedicated Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop.
Specifications
Case & connectivity
In general, our test device's case design is practically the same as the AMD Zen5 or Intel version which we already tested, but instead of the Tidal Gray color variant, it features the colorway Tidal Teal, i.e. a turquoise case. The metal case's stability and build quality give no cause for criticism and its surfaces aren't particularly susceptible to fingerprint marks. Compared to some other Lenovo laptops, the camera hump is very discreet and is even quite helpful if you want to open the lid, which can be done easily with one hand.
The RAM is soldered on, which is why maintenance options are limited to the WLAN module, the compact M.2-2242 SSD (M.2-2280 for iGPU versions), and cleaning the fans. The screwed-in battery can also be replaced if necessary. All the important ports are on board (including Thunderbolt 4) and the 1080p webcam (including an IR sensor and an electronic shutter) supports Windows Studio Effects. The Wi-Fi module complies with the Wi-Fi 6E standard and achieved high transfer rates during our test; however, the laptop doesn't have a card reader.

Sustainability
Lenovo hasn't provided any information on the CO2 footprint of the Yoga Pro 7 14's production, but the device is at least EPEAT Gold and Energy Star certified. Its packaging is completely plastic-free and 50% recycled aluminum has been used for both the base unit and the screen lid.
Input devices - 1.5 mm key travel
The laptop's keyboard feels comfortable to type on thanks to its 1.5-mm travel and precise feedback. However, the larger keys in particular are quite loud. Despite its blue color scheme, key visibility is good and the two-level white backlighting—which can also be activated automatically via a sensor—helps in dark environments. The ClickPad works very well in principle, but the mechanical clicks in the lower area are very loud, which comes across as cheap.
Display - 2.8K OLED at 120 Hz
Our test device's 14.5-inch OLED screen (2,880 x 1,800 pixels, 16:10) boasts a very good subjective picture quality and no longer has the same raster effect problems as Lenovo's previous 2.8K OLEDs. Its refresh rate is 120 Hz and movements look super smooth—plus, its response times are extremely fast. There is no backlight bleeding on OLED panels, but it does use constant PWM flickering at 240 Hz. Neither its brightness nor color temperature can be automatically adjusted to the ambient light. It doesn't feature a touchscreen.
In SDR mode, its brightness is around 400 cd/m² and, together with its low black level, this results in an extremely high contrast ratio. In HDR mode, we measured a maximum brightness of 650 cd/m² when displaying a small image section and 520 cd/m² when showing an almost completely white image. It should be noted, however, that HDR mode has to be activated manually and the color profiles then no longer work.

We analyzed the panel using the professional CalMAN software. Lenovo offers various profiles in the Vantage app and the display is already pretty impressive with the P3 profile selected. We noted no outliers above the important deviation of 3 in either the grayscale or the colors, and you won't find a color cast either. Users also have an accurate sRGB profile at their disposal. Both the P3 and sRGB color spaces are fully covered. We were unable to improve the display any further through our own calibration.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)
Screen flickering / PWM detected | 240 Hz Amplitude: 50 % | ≤ 100 % brightness setting | |
The display backlight flickers at 240 Hz (worst case, e.g., utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 100 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting. The frequency of 240 Hz is relatively low, so sensitive users will likely notice flickering and experience eyestrain at the stated brightness setting and below. In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8684 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured. |
The screen is very reflective, which quickly becomes a problem outside. Its viewing angle stability, on the other hand, is great.
Performance - Meteor Lake-H
Our test device is equipped with 32 GB LPDDR5x-7467 RAM, which should be sufficient for most users. However, there is no option to expand this.

Processor
The Intel Core Ultra 7 155H from the Meteor Lake generation is used as the laptop's processor. It has a total of 16 cores (22 threads) and can be operated within the range of 28-115 watts. During our test, the Yoga Pro 7 14 consumed a maximum of 75 watts, which then stabilized at 70 watts. As a result, its multi-core performance was good and stable overall, although the Ryzen AI 9 365 achieved even better results with a slightly lower power consumption (60/54 watts). Its performance additionally remained stable in battery mode. Further CPU benchmarks are available in our tech section.

DPC latencies
In our standardized latency test (surfing the web, 4K YouTube playback, CPU load), our test device with the current BIOS version showed no problems. One of the drivers did fail a little, but the important "interrupt-to-process-latency" value was low.

Storage device
As described above, configurations of the Yoga Pro 7 14 with a dedicated GPU are limited to one compact M.2-2242 SSD. A 1-TB version of the Samsung PM9C1a is installed in our test device, and the PCIe 4.0 SSD's transfer rates we measured were decent. Its performance fluctuated slightly under constant load, but this didn't cause any problems. Further SSD benchmarks are listed here.
