Verdict: Dell Pro 14 Plus has some room to improve
With the Dell Pro Plus, Dell does not make a cheaper Dell Pro Premium. The drop in terms of quality is certainly noticeable, be in screen quality, touchpad or speakers. This would not have to be a problem, though, if Dell gave its mid-range buyers the benefits one could expect in this class of business laptops. Alas, the Dell Pro 14 Plus does not have things like upgradeable RAM, a feature the competition offers.
And what about the fact that this is the debut of modern AMD CPUs in a Dell business laptop? The AMD Krackan Point CPU certainly delivers a good performance without driving up the fan noise and heat, though Strix Point could deliver a better performance and other laptops get more performance out of the Ryzen AI 7. If the screen was better, we could recommend this version of the Dell Pro 14 Plus - as it is, stay away from this specific model and rather opt for the one with the "Low Power" panel.

Dell Latitude was one of the oldest still existing laptop brands in the business. It originally came out in 1994 - and it ended in 2024 after thirty years. In early 2025, Dell unveiled the decision to discontinue the Latitude name, instead branding all business laptops simply as Dell Pro. This meant a simplification of the lineup into three lines: Instead of Dell Latitude 3000, Latitude 5000, Latitude 7000 and Latitude 9000, we now have Dell Pro, Dell Pro Plus and Dell Pro Premium.
We have already tested the Dell Pro 13 Premium and the Dell Pro 14 Premium. Here, we are testing the mid-tier option, the Dell Pro 14 Plus, which replaces the Dell Latitude 5000 line and the lower end variants of the Latitude 7000. What makes this interesting: This is the first time that Dell is making an AMD variant of its business laptop, and our review device is powered by AMD Ryzen AI 300 CPUs.
Specifications: AMD Ryzen AI for the first time in Dell Pro
Case: Aluminum and plastic are Dell's choice for the Pro Plus series
While Dell's most expensive business series, the Dell Pro 14 Premium, is mostly made out of magnesium alloy, this more affordable Dell Pro 14 Plus uses a mixture of aluminum alloy and plastic. The palmrest and the display cover are made from the lightweight metal, while the screen bezel, bottom cover and the strip on top of the lid are made from plastic. All surfaces, except for the black screen bezel and the keyboard, are colored in a silver-grey tone.
The combination of materials works in Dell's favor: This Dell laptop has a good build quality, with high stability especially in the areas where aluminum is used. Plus, the aluminum surfaces seem pretty resistant when it comes to smudging, though they may dent or scratch a bit more easily. The smooth plastic bottom cover is not quite as robust.
Dell uses two drop-down hinges to connect the screen to the base unit. They allow the screen to open to a maximum of 180 degrees and there is not much wobble, but it is not possible to open the display with one hand.
With a weight of 1.6 kg, the Dell Pro 14 Plus is one of the heavier models in the comparison. In terms of size, it is comparable to the other business laptops, though the Dell Pro 14 Premium is a bit smaller.
Connectivity: Ethernet is missing on the Dell Pro 14 Plus
The Dell Pro 14 Plus has all the basic ports you would expect in a modern business laptop. It is especially nice to have two USB-A ports, one on each side, though we would welcome a third USB-C port on the right side instead, too. What we are missing is RJ45-Ethernet, a feature both the main competitors from Lenovo and HP have, though it is optionally available.
Communication
Dell uses a Mediatek Wi-Fi solution that is soldered to the board. It supports the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard as well as Bluetooth 5.4. The Mediatek card delivers very good transfer rates, both when sending and receiving data, in our benchmark testing.
Optionally, the Dell Pro 14 Plus can be configured with a 4G/LTE card. The antennas, M.2 2242 slot and nanoSIM slot are all there, so our unit is upgradeable. 5G versions are also available.
Webcam
The webcam is a basic 1080p one, and its quality is not great. It is just good enough for video calls.

Security
Since this is an enterprise level system, Dell gives it all the bells and whistles in terms of security features. In terms of hardware, this includes a Noble lock slot, a Smartcard reader, fingerprint scanner, infrared webcam and physical privacy shutter.
Accessories
Besides the 65 Watt USB-C charger, there are no additional accessories included.
Maintenance
A total of eight Phillips head screws secures the bottom cover, plus a few clips. Once the cover is removed, users get access to the internals.
Disappointingly, there is not much you are able to do: Cleaning the fan and changing the battery is possible, as is upgrading the SSD and putting in a 4G card. However, CPU, Wi-Fi and RAM are all soldered. Especially the RAM is disappointing, since the competition from HP and Lenovo offers upgradeable RAM. Also, unlike the ThinkPads, the keyboard of the Dell Pro 14 Plus can not be changed easily by the user.
Sustainability
Dell publishes the CO2 emissions (113 kg CO2-equivalent). Also, the packaging of the Dell Pro 14 Plus is entirely recyclable, and the main chassis materials are made from partially recycled materials, too. Since this is a business laptop, public maintenance manuals and important replacement parts are also available.
Warranty
Dell gives this Pro 14 Plus laptop only a very limited warranty of 12 months, with bring-in service. That puts it more on a level with Lenovo's ThinkPad L series or HP's EliteBook 6 than the more expensive ThinkPad T and EliteBook 8. Customers can extend the warranty, for an upcharge, of course.
Input Devices: Dell Pro keyboard is better than the touchpad
Keyboard
Dell provides a good keyboard typing experience. Different from the more expensive Pro 14 Premium, the Dell Pro 14 Plus has a more classical chiclet-style keyboard design. The chiclet keys, which have a two stage backlight, have roughly 1.5 mm of key travel and offer a nice typing feel, they feel precise and have a nice bounce. There is no flex while typing.
When it comes to the layout, there is room for improvement. The Enter key is limited in size, and the vertical arrow keys are not very big either. Plus, there are no dedicated navigation keys - if you want to use PgUp/Down or Home/ENd, you have to use the arrow keys and FN.
Touchpad
The Dell Pro 14 Plus uses a mechanical clickpad with a plastic surface that measures 12.5 x 7.3 cm. The mechanical click is good, but it could be a tad more precise, and the surface material is smooth. This means it makes gliding across easy, though the surface does not feel as nice as a comparable glass surface.
Unfortunately, Dell has some work ahead of themself when it comes to the drivers - we found an annoying behavior, where the touchpad does not react immediately after a longer pause. It seems like it falls asleep and takes a while to wake back up again.
Display: A weak point of the Dell laptop
There are a total of four different 14-inch 16:10 panels for the Dell Pro 14 Plus, all of them matte IPS LCDs:
- WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200), 300 cd/m², 45 % NTSC
- WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200), 300 cd/m², 45 % NTSC, Touch
- WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200), 400 cd/m², 100 % sRGB, Low Power
- WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600), 400 cd/m², 100 % sRGB
Unfortunately, Dell does not use the higher quality panels in the pre-built models for the German market. The panel used here is clearly subpar, which starts already when it comes to the brightness. None of the other business laptops has a screen this dim, as the average brightness of the panel does not even reach the promised 300 cd/m².

It is not possible to easily correct the color inaccuracy of the screen. Even after a calibration with the X-Rite i1Profiler and the i1 Pro 3, color accuracy remains low with an average ColorChecker deltaE of 5.1.
Another aspect Dell Pro 14 Plus screen that is lacking is the color gamut coverage. The small sRGB gamut is only covered by 56.3 percent, insufficient for basic photo editing.

Performance: AMD Ryzen AI 7 Pro does well, but could be better
Dell offers the Dell Pro 14 Plus with a total of seven different AMD CPUs (Ryzen 5 Pro 215, Ryzen 5 Pro 220, Ryzen 5 Pro 230, Ryzen 7 Pro 250, Ryzen AI 5 Pro 340, Ryzen AI 7 Pro 350, Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 370) - the iGPU used depends on the CPU, with the top choice of the AMD Radeon 890M in the Ryzen AI 9. The RAM is always soldered, Dell solders up to 64 GB LPDDR5X-7500 memory to the board. The M.2 2280 SSD is upgradeable, Dell offers a maximum of 2 TB ex-factory.
Testing Conditions
We can set the power modes using the Windows settings. The power modes influence the performance by setting the power limits (PL1 = CPU power consumption under sustained load, PL2 = maximum CPU power consumption):
- Best Power Efficiency: PL1 17 W / PL2 30 W
- Balanced: PL1 22 W / PL2 33 W
- Best Performance: PL1 25 W / PL2 35 W
All benchmarks were performed in "Best Performance" mode.
Processor
The AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 350 is a CPU with eight cores (4x Zen5, 4x Zen5c) that clock up to five GHz. With SMT, the processor has up to 16 threads. AMD sets the typical TDP of the CPU at 28 W. Other comparison with other CPUs are possible with our processor comparison list.
While the CPU performance of the Dell Pro 14 Plus is good, it is not quite as good as on most other laptops with this CPU, which means the performance is below average. The Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 6 AMD is 16 percent faster with the same chip on average.
When running in battery mode, the Dell Pro Plus 14 cores 10997 points in Cinebench R23 Multicore, a minus of 15 percent.

Using the integrated AMD Radeon 860M GPU, the graphics performance of the Dell Pro 14 Plus is good enough for a business laptop that is meant for usage in the office. Basic games are playable, too, although that is certainly not the preferred use case for this device.

Overall, Dell has a good handle on the noise of the single fan. The fan stays mostly off when idling and when it comes on, it stays pretty inaudible. You can only hear it under maximum load (mode: Best Performance), and even then it stays quieter than the other business laptops in our comparison.
We could not detect coil whine with this Dell Pro 14 Plus.

Dell manages to keep the temperatures in check. At most, the Dell Pro 14 Plus reaches a temperature of 104 F / 40.1 degrees Celsius, which is just a bit warm.
Even after an hour, the Dell Pro laptop can hold its CPU power consumption at 25 W, so there is absolutely no throttling.

Dell uses a 55 Wh battery, among the smallest in our comparison field. Battery life is not bad, but also not good, as it is even a bit below average. 11.8 hrs in the Wi-Fi websurfing test (150 cd/m² screen brightness) is not that great when most of the other laptops in the comparison manage over 14 hrs.
