One UI 2.5 has arrived on more versions of the Galaxy S9, S9 Plus and Note 9. One UI 2.5 for the three carrier-versions also includes the October 2020 security patch update, but the November 2020 set has already hit the Note 9 in Germany.

TSMC's 5 nm production is mostly focused on Apple's A14 Bionic SoCs and apparently cannot meet the projected order volume for the M1 chips. Since Samsung is the only other foundry to have operational 5 nm nodes, the South Korean foundries could once again become an Apple supplier. Nevertheless, the low yields on Samsung's 5 nm nodes might lead to sub-par performance on some M1 chips.

Rumor | The Redmi Note 9 5G will start at just US$150

Recent leaks have pointed to the existence of upcoming phones called the Redmi Note 9 5G and 9 Pro 5G. Now, a Weibo tipster asserts that this new series will start at 1000 yuan on its Chinese launch. The Pro variant, on the other hand, might cost 1500 yuan. This means the devices are now rumored to start at well below US$200.

DISH announces the United States' first Open RAN-based 5G network

DISH, the company behind Sling TV, has announced that it will soon offer 5G services in the US. Furthermore, its network will be the first to be compatible with Open Radio Access Network (RAN) technology, so as to make the integration of individual vendor equipment easier. This will be achieved thanks to a partnership with Qualcomm.

Xbox Series X/S FUD or fail: Videos of Microsoft's next-gen consoles smoking, not turning on, and not loading games inevitably appear

Numerous videos of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in various states of malfunction have started appearing online, with clips of the next-gen console blowing out plumes of smoke being the most widely reported. While many of the videos are likely fake, some of them do appear to be genuine, especially when showing signal issues and disc-reading problems.

No unlimited Google Photos storage beyond June 2021, Google confirms

Google is ending its free unlimited photo storage on Google Photos. The change will take effect from June 1, 2021, and will affect all but owners of Pixel smartphones. From that date, Google will count all photos backed up to Google Photos against a 15 GB data limit.
