Pros
Cons
The Realme 16T 5G is positioned as a mid-range smartphone with an overall review score of 75 percent. Its standout feature is a large 8,000mAh battery, which reviewers identify as a major strength for long daily use. The phone also offers a slim design, strong durability ratings, 5G connectivity, Android 16, and Realme UI 7. Performance is handled by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, which is adequate for everyday tasks but less compelling for demanding users. Reviewers criticize the display resolution and note that the camera setup lacks versatility, particularly because there is no ultra-wide sensor. Overall, the Realme 16T 5G is considered a capable but not class-leading option in its price segment.

So, should you buy the realme 16T? Well, I think the price is the deciding factor. After looking at everything that this phone has to offer, I think it is very similar to the other phone that we reviewed recently – the realme C100.

Overall, the Realme 16T feels like a mixed package. Its biggest strengths are the exceptional battery life, large display, smooth 144Hz refresh rate, and good thermal management, making it a reliable option for multimedia consumption and long usage sessions. However, the HD+ LCD panel, underpowered chipset, and fairly basic camera setup make the phone feel less competitive at its Rs 29,999 price point. The Realme 16T is best suited for users who prioritise battery endurance above everything else, while performance-focused users and those seeking a better display or more versatile cameras may find stronger alternatives in this segment.

The Realme 16T, announced and released in late May 2026, is clearly built to last. It is a sizable phone with a 6.81-inch AMOLED display, a body that measures 166.4 x 78.2 x 8.8 mm, and it weighs 224 grams so it feels solid but not uncomfortably heavy. What really stands out is the rugged credentials it comes with an IP68/IP69K dust and water resistance rating, meaning it can survive high-pressure water jets and be submerged up to 2.5 meters for 30 minutes. Plus, it meets MIL-STD-810H military standards for durability. The front uses Panda-1681 glass for protection, while the frame and back are plastic. Just a heads-up, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack, but you do get dual Nano-SIM slots and a microSD card slot for expandable storage. The 6.81-inch AMOLED screen is smooth thanks to a 144Hz refresh rate, and it gets bright enough at 1200 nits for outdoor use. However, the resolution is a modest 720 x 1570 pixels, which works out to about 254 pixels per inch so it is sharp enough for daily tasks but not as crisp as higher-end flagships. Under the hood, you will find a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset built on 6nm technology paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB (UFS 2.2).

The Realme 16T gets certain things right, particularly in areas like battery life, design, durability, and software experience. Its massive 8,000mAh battery easily stands out as one of the phone’s biggest strengths, while the slim design and IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K ratings add a sense of practicality and premium appeal. Realme UI 7 also feels smooth and polished for everyday use. At the same time, the phone does come with a few compromises that are difficult to ignore in this price segment. The HD+ LCD display feels less competitive compared to the AMOLED panels offered by rivals, the Dimensity 6300 chipset may not satisfy power users, and the camera setup lacks versatility, especially without an ultra-wide sensor.

Coming back to the question, is the Realme 16T 5G a decent mid-range smartphone? Definitely, yes. Priced at Rs. 29,999 in India, it is a capable performer with great credentials and a design that could have you sold on it. But is it the best in the price segment? I am afraid not. The underpowered chipset and the sub-par display resolution make it a not-so-attractive deal. But one should consider it for its real-life performance, which is sufficient in all aspects. If you own the Realme 15T, you might want to hold on to it for a while. Alternatively, you might want to look at the OnePlus Nord CE 6 Lite or the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion.
