Samsung's best-seller in the third quarter was the Galaxy A21s
Market research firm Canalys has just completed a new market report about the global smartphone market in the third quarter of this year. According to it, Samsung is slowly heading for complete global domination, although Apple remains on top when it comes to the best-selling smartphone model.
The aforementioned report concludes that "Samsung took five spots in the world's top 10 shipping smartphones in Q3 2020, driven by its Galaxy A series portfolio. The vendor regained the No.1 position globally with shipments increased by 2% y-o-y." The in-detail numbers look quite interesting, with Apple on the first two positions with the iPhone 11 (16 million units sold) and iPhone SE 2020 (10 million), followed by three Samsung handsets: the Galaxy A21s, Galaxy A11, and Galaxy A51.
The remaining five models in the top ten global smartphone sales ranking for the third quarter are the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9/10x 4G and Redmi 9, Samsung's Galaxy A31, the Xiaomi Redmi 9A, and the Galaxy A01 Core.
This performance is only one more step in Samsung's road uphill that has recently included two milestones, namely beating Apple in terms of US smartphone sales again after a few years and becoming the leader of the Indian smartphone market.
