However, for £245, you’re buying a smartphone that’s fast enough for most people, with a great screen and an excellent suite of cameras. Couple that with staggering battery life, and the Samsung Galaxy M31 stands alone. It’s only a shame that it’s exclusive to Amazon in the UK.

Nevertheless, packed with a crisp and vibrant AMOLED display, a highly durable 6,000mAh battery, impressive 64MP quad camera, and a dependable chipset coupled with an adequate amount of RAM the Galaxy M31 makes a strong case for it. If you are in need of buying an affordable but a well-rounded phone without sacrificing the brand cachet, the Galaxy M31 is certainly a good option for you at present. Go for it.

That said, we felt that the company could have bumped up the processor in order to give a stiff competition to its rivals. The Poco X2 and Realme 6 offers you better chipset along with higher refresh rate and more. That said, if you are looking for a smartphone that gives you long-lasting battery life, then Galaxy M31 is meant for you.

And the Galaxy M30s’ base variant, priced at Rs 12,999, is the better pick if you’re on an extremely tight budget. If you have Rs 14,999 lying around, then the Galaxy M31 offers excellent value for money. It would have been nice to see more feature-packed software, better quality from the 64MP rear camera in low light, and perhaps an Infinity-O display with smaller bezels, but for the asking price, these are all nitpicks that shouldn’t affect your decision to get the phone.

I have tested a lot of mid-range smartphones, but there’s hardly any of them that stood out on all parameters. The combination of simple looks, lightweight design, capable quad cameras – and perhaps above all the insanely long battery life makes the Galaxy 31 worth the money. At Rs 14,999, I am not missing out on a flagship smartphone and that really is something Samsung’s strategy to sell the Galaxy M30s. I have a sneaky feeling that the Galaxy M31 is Samsung’s “iPhone XR” in the mid-range segment.

South Korean tech giant, Samsung has released its latest budget segment smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy M31. Despite coming in with a rather affordable price, Galaxy M31 does not disappoint when it comes to the display fitted on it. Making expensive displays has been Samsung’s forte and even in this model, it has stood out well. The 6.4 inches full HD+ Super AMOLED display which has been incorporated within this device definitely provides a totally expensive viewing experience for the user. However, the Infinity-V display on the device does not distract the users too much while watching movies or playing games. This is obviously a worthwhile point to be noted by users. In addition, the smartphone also provides a high-resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels at 403 ppi pixel density which again marks for an overall improved user experience. Galaxy M31 has been released in two different colors namely Ocean Blue and Space Black.
The smartphone has been incorporated with a 2.3GHz Exynos 9611 octa-core chipset housing a Mali 672 MP3 GPU and paired with 6GB of RAM along with 128GB internal storage. This same chip was earlier used in Galaxy A51. While the chipset is not the most powerful out there for handling performance-oriented tasks, it is definitely a great processor at handling basic apps of daily use and also good at handling multitasking. As far as the battery is concerned, Galaxy M31 houses a massive 6000mAh battery which can retain for almost two days after a single full charge. However, once the phone drains out, the recharging does take some time as the phone comes with only 15W fast charging support.
In terms of the camera, Galaxy M31 sports quad-camera setup with a primary 64-megapixel Samsung GW1 lens which does well in most situations. The shots taken using this sensor in the daylight are quite satisfactory. Images are detailed and showcase good dynamic range. In addition, the ultra-wide lens on the device makes the device more versatile at clicking different types of shots. It allows image capturing in more space than it is possible while using a standard smartphone camera. M31 also incorporates Live Focus (Portrait Mode), Super Slow-Mo, Pro, Hyperlapse and Night modes within its device. The Live Focus shot does a great job of edge detection when done under natural lighting conditions. However, a slight drop in lighting has a relatively worse impact on the color and detail of the image.
Apart from that, the phone also caters for close-up shots with its dedicated 5-megapixel Macro lens and also supports 4K 30FPS video recording. This is definitely great news for video content creators out there. Galaxy M31 is definitely a good option to consider due to its added features but the final choice is definitely quite subjective, depending on the individual’s choice and preference.
