Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy M21
The Samsung Galaxy M21 is a close but lower-priced relative of the Galaxy M31. It offers less storage space and a slightly cut-down camera system. However, it still features the same gigantic battery. Is the Galaxy M21 the ideal smartphone for bargain hunters? Read our review to find out.

Archive.org versionThe Samsung Galaxy M21 doesn’t really make a huge difference, the design isn’t exciting, it looks very much the same as Galaxy M30s. However, as far as the price is concerned, you get a 6,000 mAh battery which sounds is great if you are looking for a phone with a reliable battery life. Other features like Super AMOLED display and a decent camera add up to the overall package to make it one of the best phones in this segment.

Archive.org versionThe Galaxy M21 performs similarly to the Galaxy M31. I mean, both phones have a 6000mAh battery, identical processors and displays, and even the design is the same. What the Galaxy M21 noticeably lacks, however, is a camera that’s not at par to the Galaxy M31. Still, there’s a lot to love about the Galaxy M21. For those who are still using old Galaxy phones like the Galaxy J2, I think the Galaxy M21 would make logical sense.

Archive.org versionThe Samsung Galaxy M21 joins a rather crowded market, with the crowd mostly consisting of its own rather similar stablemates. We really can't figure out why Samsung has three versions of the same basic device so closely priced and why you should care about this particular version more than others.

Archive.org versionWhen you compare the improvements that Samsung has made to the Galaxy M21 from its predecessor, the Galaxy M20, it is easy to justify the price increase. The screen is wonderful and bright, the battery life is outstanding and the performance has been relatively improved. However, when you look at the smartphone by itself in the current market, it doesn’t look as impressive anymore.

Archive.org versionAnd that’s pretty much the verdict for this review. Want a macro camera? Get the Galaxy M31. Can do without one? The Galaxy M21 is a considerably better deal, especially if your budget is tight. Other than the cameras, it offers the exact same experience, so you can check out our Galaxy M31 review to see how the M21 fares when it comes to the display, performance, audio quality, software, and battery life.

Archive.org versionStarting at Rs 13,199, the Galaxy M21 is one of the most affordable Samsung smartphones. It does not compromise on the precedent set by the company’s Galaxy M-series. True, it does not have the best design or build quality, but its bright and vivid screen is a delight to use and the camera is versatile, with good value-added features. Moreover, its performance is up to the mark and the phone’s OneUI 2.0 user interface is one of the best iterations of the custom Android OS in this segment.

Archive.org versionThe Galaxy M21 is one of those phones that's really there to populate line-ups. In terms of features or even design, the Galaxy M21 doesn't really bring anything new to the table. It follows a trusted scrip that sees a simple design being paired to hardware that has already been used on Samsung phones in the past.

Archive.org versionThe Samsung Galaxy M21 feels a lot like the Galaxy M30s (Review). It shares a lot of key specifications with the older device. The differentiators are Android 10 and a higher resolution selfie shooter, but since the Galaxy M30s recently got an update to One UI 2.0, the selfie camera is pretty much the only differentiator. Surprisingly, Samsung has priced the Galaxy M21 lower than the Galaxy M30s which is still on sale. The lower price and the better chance of getting updated to Android 11 at some point tip the scales in the Galaxy M21's favour.

Archive.org versionAnd that’s not a bad thing. The Galaxy M31 is a pretty compelling budget smartphone, and the cuts Samsung has made on the Galaxy M21 won’t notably ruin the experience. You still get a massive 6,000 mAh battery, a beautiful 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display, and the same Exynos processor that powers the considerably costlier Galaxy A51. We’ll do a full review of the phone in the coming days, but I think I can already say that for the asking price, the M21 looks destined to be yet another home run from Samsung in the budget segment.

Archive.org versionSo summing up, how good is the Samsung Galaxy M21 in terms of camera? The Samsung Galaxy M21 does well in daylight shots, close up and even selfie camera and it is surprisingly good. But at the same it fails in the video quality with horrible focus hunting issues and also average low light performance. The portrait selfie camera also needs improvement for poor edge detection.
