AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT

Die AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT ist eine Mid-Range-Desktop-GPU und wird im 7 nm Verfahren bei TSMC gefertigt. Der Grafikprozessor verfügt über 2.560 Shadereinheiten, sowie über 12 GB GDDR6-VRAM mit einem 192-Bit-Interface (16 Gbps, 384 GB/s).

Features

RDNA2 dient als Basis für den Navi 22 getauften Grafikchip und beerbt damit den Navi-10-Grafikchip der Vorgängerserie (RX-5700er-Reihe). Auf die bereits bei den High-End-Modellen der neuen RDNA2-Grafikchips Features muss die AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT nicht verzichten. Features wie SAM (Smart Access Memory) und der Infinity Cache erhöhen die Frameraten. PCI Express 4.0 und RIS (Radeon Image Sharpening) gehören weiterhin zum Standard. Mit der neuen Media Engine lassen sich Videos mit einer Auflösung von bis zu 8K dekodieren und die neue Display Engine unterstützt Bildschirme mit bis zu 8K bei 60Hz inklusive HDR oder 4K HDR mit 144Hz. Außerdem gibt es auch Unterstützung für Raytracing. Hierfür bietet die AMD RX 6700 XT 40 Ray-Accelerators. 

Performance

Die Leistung der AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT ist mit einer Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 vergleichbar. Im internen Duell übertrifft die RX 6700 XT die Leistung einer Radeon RX 5700 XT deutlich. Damit eignet sich die RX 6700 XT für 1440p-Gaming.

Leistungsaufnahme

Die Leistungsaufnahme der AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT wird vom Hersteller mit 230 Watt (TGP) beziffert und liegt damit auf dem gleichen Niveau wie eine GeForce RTX 3070 (220 Watt).

AMD Radeon RX 6800S

The AMD Radeon RX 6800S is a mobile high-end graphics card for gaming laptops. It uses the Navi 23 chip based on the new RDNA 2 architecture. It uses all 2,048 shaders (= 32 CUs), 128 TMUs, and 64 ROPs and therefore is similar to the desktop Radeon RX 6700 XT. The 128 Bit memory system connects 8 GB GDDR6 with 2 GHz memory clock. Furthermore, the RX6800S includes 32 MB Infinity Cache. The RX 6800S is the power saving variant of the RX 6800M and features slower clock speeds and a lower TDP.

Due to the lower clock speed, the performance should be lower than the RX 6800M. AMD specified the performance between the low power variants of the RTX 3070 (80-100W) and RTX 3080 (80-100W, former Max-Q).

The Navi 22 chip is manufactured at TSMC in the modern 7nm process. Thanks to the reduced TDP, the 6800S is suited for thin gaming laptops.

AMD Radeon RX 6700S

The AMD Radeon RX 6700S is a mobile high-end graphics card for gaming laptops. It uses the Navi 22 chip based on the new RDNA 2 architecture. It uses 1,792 of the 2,560 shaders (= 28 CUs), 112 TMUs, and 64 ROPs. The 128 Bit memory system connects 8 GB GDDR6 with 2 GHz memory clock. Furthermore, the RX6800S includes 32 MB Infinity Cache. AMD specified 1.9 GHz game clock for 7.9 TFLOPS theoretical FP32 performance at a TDP of 80 Watt. This means the GPU is in theory slower than a Radeon RX 6650M (8,85 TFLOPS). The 6700S is the power saving variant of the RX 6700M.

The gaming performance of the RX 6700S should be similar to the Radeon RX 6650M. AMD specifies the performance similar to a low power RTX 3060. When Raytracing effects are activated, it falls behind the GeForce GPUs.
